KICKOFF COVERAGE
• Utah State is 6-74 all-time against Associated Press-ranked teams, but has won five of its last 25 games, including its 46-13 victory at No. 19 San Diego State in the 2021 Mountain West Championship game, which was its last win against an AP top 25 team. The highest-ranked team USU has ever defeated was at No. 18 BYU (35-20) in 2014. USU is 3-59 all-time on the road against AP top 25 teams.
• Utah State is 0-2 against AP Top 25 teams this year as it lost at No. 19 Washington (16-14) and at No. 17 Utah (33-0) on Sept. 12 and Sept. 19, respectively. This weekend will mark the seventh time in school history that USU has played at least three nationally ranked teams in the same season (1991, 2001, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2024, 2026). USU played a school record four nationally ranked teams in 2001 and 2008.
• Utah State senior S Brevin Hamblin was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week, while graduate RB Javen Jacobs was named to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll following USU's 21-10 win against Troy last weekend. Hamblin had a season-high 12 tackles and an interception, while Jacobs had 99 all-purpose yards, including 84 rushing yards on 14 attempts.
• According to Pro Football Network, Utah State sophomore CB Markie Grant posted a 91.2 impact grade vs. Troy, the sixth-highest of any cornerback in the nation, while graduate WR Eli Wood posted a 90.5 impact grade vs. Troy, the eighth-highest of any wide receiver in the nation.
• Utah State's defense has allowed 27 points following 11 Aggie turnovers thus far this year for an average of 2.45 points allowed per turnover.
• Utah State ranks second in the Pac-12 in total defense (368.0 ypg), first in passing efficiency allowed (111.2), third in scoring defense (22.0 ppg) and third in rushing defense (139.8 ypg).
• Utah State's three losses this year have come against teams that are currently 11-1 on the season in Idaho State (4-0), Washington (3-1) and Utah (4-0).
SERIES vs. BOISE STATE
• Utah State and Boise State will be meeting for the 31st time in series history this weekend in what is the 12th-most played rivalry in school history.
• Utah State trails in the all-time series against Boise State, 25-5, which includes a 2-13 road record. USU has lost 10 straight and 21 of the last 22 games in the series as its only victory during that stretch was a 52-26 home win in 2015 against No. 21 BSU. The first game played in the series was on Oct. 15, 1975, in Boise, with USU winning 42-19. Last year, Boise State notched a 25-24 road win. The last time the two teams played in Boise, the Broncos notched a 62-30 win in 2024.
