LOGAN, Utah — Utah State soccer (4-1-1, 0-0-0 Pac-12) used one of the most prolific offensive performances in program history to defeat Utah Tech and extend its winning streak to four games Thursday night at Chuck & Gloria Bell Field, earning an 8-1 victory. 

In what was the first ever meeting between the in-state foes, Utah State controlled from start to finish, out-shooting the Trailblazers 32-2, tied for the fifth-most shots in program history. The team's eight goals rank tied for fourth-most in team history, while the seven-goal advantage was tied for the team's third largest margin of victory. 

Utah Tech, which earned its first-ever win over a power conference opponent on Sunday with a 2-1 win over Utah, fell behind early when senior midfielder Summer Diamond found the back of the net in the fifth minute, tallying her first goal of the season to set the tone. Shortly following, junior forward Ellie Hendrix added on another with an 18th minute goal, her third-straight contest in the scoring column USU. 

With a 2-0 lead in hand, the Aggies closed the half strong to tack on two more goals before the break. First, it was junior midfielder Kei Yoneda capitalizing on a free kick from just outside of the 18-yard box in the 36th minute, then it was junior forward Mia Mullenmeister finding the far post with a high-arching shot in the 43rd minute. Through the first half, Utah State out-shot Utah Tech 17-0. 

After scoring four goals in the first 45 minutes, the Aggies added on four more in the next 15. Sophomore forward Kunie Hirai struck shortly following the halftime break in the 50th minute. Sophomore forward Samantha Sellers then quickly picked up her first career brace with goals in the 53rd and 58th minutes to stretch the lead to 7-0. The final Utah State goal of the night came in the 61st minute when junior midfielder Austin Miller netted her first goal of the season. 

The lone goal of the night for the Trailblazers came in the 74th minute, on what was just their second and final shot of the contest. 

Along with scoring for Utah State, Hendrix tallied three assists on the night, tying the program record for assists in a contest. In total, seven different Aggie players scored goals while Sellers was the lone USU player with multiple.

Utah State (4-1-1, 0-0-0 Pac-12) will hit the road this weekend as it travels to Boulder, Colorado, to take on No. 24 Colorado on Sunday, Sept. 6. The match will kick off at noon, and will be streamed on ESPN+.

All seating at Chuck and Gloria Bell Field is general admission. Seating in the stadium bleachers is first come, first served. Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for grass and berm seating.
