BOULDER, Colo. — Utah State soccer (4-2-1, 0-0-0 Pac-12) saw a four-game winning streak come to an end as it suffered its second loss of the 2026 campaign Sunday afternoon at Prentup Field in Boulder, falling to No. 24 Colorado 2-0.
While the Aggies generated offense throughout, creating 16 shots with seven shots on frame, set pieces made the difference in this one as 24th-ranked Colorado, an NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 squad in 2025, tallied 12 corners to Utah State's three.
USU controlled much of the first half and out-shot the Buffs 11-5 in the first 45 minutes, but the hosts were able to open up an early advantage when the Aggies were whistled for a foul inside of the box while defending a corner kick in the 11th minute. CU took advantage of the opportunity, burying the penalty to make it 1-0.
Colorado found offensive rhythm in the second half, tallying 10 shots after generating just five in the first half, but the Aggies continued to find opportunities of their own. The Buffs broke through once again in the 64th minute when a corner kick played into the box resulted in a header into the back of the net.
In total, Utah State took 16 shots to Colorado's 15, each side putting seven shots on net. The duo of junior forward Ellie Hendrix and sophomore forward Kunie Hirai headed the Aggie attack, each recording three shots in the contest.
In net, sophomore Ivy Nystrom played all 90 minutes for Utah State, matching her career high with five saves on the day.

Utah State (4-2-1, 0-0-0 Pac-12) will return home to Chuck & Gloria Bell Field this week to host No. 14 BYU on Thursday, Sept. 10. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m., and the match will be streamed free on the Pac-12 YouTube page.
