Biography

HONORS: Phil Steele Third-Team All-Mountain West (2017). 

2018 (SR): Played in 10 games with one start... Finished the season with 40 tackles (21-solo, 19-assist), which included 1.0 sacks and 5.0 tackles for loss, while adding two quarterback hurries and one pass breakup... Missed the first three games of the season due to injury... Recorded a season-high 12 tackles against Air Force (9/22) in his first game back from injury for his seventh-career double-digit tackle outing... Tied his career high with 2.0 tackles for loss at New Mexico (10/27), which included 1.0 sacks, as part of his seven tackles... Had six tackles, which included 1.5 tackles for loss, against UNLV (10/13)... Added 1.0 tackles for loss at Wyoming (10/20) as part of his four total tackles.    

2017 (JR): Earned third-team all-Mountain West honors from Phil Steele’s Magazine after starting all 13 games and leading the team with 111 tackles (43-solo, 68-assist)... Also led the team with 6.5 tackles for loss and tied for second with his 3.0 sacks... Led the team with four quarterback hurries and tied for the team lead with two fumble recoveries... Also had two pass breakups on the season... Ranked eighth in the conference and 46th in the nation in tackles per game (8.5), and was tied for fourth in the MW and tied for 26th in the nation in fumble recoveries per game (0.15)... Was one of five Aggies to record a tackle in every game and finished the season with six double-digit outings, which were the most by an Aggie since 2015... Recorded double-digit tackles in five-straight games, which was the longest streak by a USU player since Bobby Wagner also accomplished the feat in 2011... Recorded a season-high 14 tackles in back-to-back games against Colorado State (10/7) and Wyoming (10/14)... Added a season-best 2.0 sacks against the Cowboys and had a season-best two quarterback hurries against the Rams... Had 13 tackles and a fumble recovery against BYU (9/29), and 10 tackles in back-to-back games against UNLV (10/21) and Boise State (10/28)... Had 11 tackles, including 1.0 tackles for loss, at Air Force (11/25)... Posted seven tackles and returned a fumble 13 yards in his Aggie debut at No. 9 Wisconsin (9/1).   

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Earned California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) first-team All-America honors, first-team all-Region III honors and was named the Southern California Football Association (SCFA) National Division Central Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year at linebacker as a sophomore at Mt. San Antonio Junior College in Walnut, Calif., as he recorded 81 tackles, which included 9.0 sacks and 20.0 tackles for loss, while adding one forced fumble and seven pass breakups during the 2015 season... Was also named the SCFA Central Conference Defensive Player of the Week after recording 5.0 sacks and 7.0 tackles for loss as part of his 16 total tackles, to go along with a forced fumble, two pass breakups and three quarterback hurries against Long Beach CC... Was also named the Player of the Game in the Patriotic Bowl after making a team-high 10 tackles, which included 2.0 sacks... As a freshman in 2014, he recorded 45 tackles, including 5.5 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss, while adding one forced fumble and one fumble recovery... Was ranked as the No. 58 overall junior college prospect by Scout.com following his sophomore season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Juanita High School in Kirkland, Wash., and spent two years playing rugby following his high school career. 

PERSONAL: Son of Levi and Sera Tamaivena... Has a twin brother, Sitiveni, who is a linebacker at New Mexico... Father, Levi, was a national rugby star in Fiji...  Attended the same junior college as current USU senior Aaren Vaughns... Graduated from Utah State in December of 2018 with a sociology degree... He is married to the former Lusiana Evans. The couple has one son, Levi (2), and one daughter, Kelera (8 mo.)... Name is pronounced Sue-lee Tuh-my-ven-uh.
