Biography

HONORS: Academic All-Mountain West (2018).

2018 (SR): Played in seven games and recorded four tackles (2-solo, 2-assist) and one fumble recovery… Had a season-high two tackles against New Mexico State (9/8)… Added one tackle and a fumble recovery that he returned 25 yards against Tennessee Tech (9/13)… Also had one stop against San José State (11/10).

2017 (JR): Played in 10 games and finished the season with 23 tackles (9-solo, 14-assist), which included 1.0 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss, to go along with one interception… Had a season-high six tackles, including a season-best 1.5 tackles for loss, at Wake Forest (9/16)… Also had six tackles, including his only sack of the season, against Boise State (10/28)… Recorded four tackles against Idaho State (9/7) and had three stops against Hawai’i (11/18)… Intercepted his first career pass at UNLV (10/21).

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Recorded 59 tackles (22-solo, 37-assist), including 4.0 sacks, to go along with one interception as a sophomore at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah... Recorded double-digit tackles in each of his final three games of the season as he had 17 tackles, which included 3.0 sacks and 4.0 tackles for loss, against Eastern Arizona JC... Added a career-high 18 tackles, including 3.0 tackles for loss, against Scottsdale JC, and had 13 tackles, including 1.0 sacks, against Phoenix JC, while adding a 48-yard interception return for a touchdown... Snow College finished the season with an 8-2 record.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned Utah Class 4A first-team all-state honors at linebacker from both the Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News as a prep senior at Timpview High School in Provo, Utah, in 2009 as he recorded 80 tackles and five interceptions... Was also named the Deseret News 4A MVP and the Daily Herald Utah Valley Player of the Year as a prep senior as he helped Timpview win three-straight state championships (2007, 2008, 2009)... Earned honorable mention all-state honors as a junior.

PERSONAL: Son of Fonua and Mino Latu... Has two brothers and two sisters... Served a two-year LDS Church Mission to Indianapolis, Ind... Graduated from Utah State in the spring of 2019 with a sociology degree... Attended the same junior college as USU players Roman Andrus, Gaje Ferguson, Moroni Iniguez, Fua Leilua and Emerson Woods... Name is pronounced Oh-fa La-too.
