HONORS: Phil Steele Third-Team All-Mountain West (2018); Honorable Mention All-Mountain West (2018).

2018 (SR): Earned third-team all-Mountain West honors from Phil Steele’s Magazine and honorable mention all-Mountain West honors from the league’s coaches after starting all 13 games at right guard... Had an overall performance grade of 91 percent... Played in 693 snaps... Graded out at 96 percent in effort, 92 percent in assignment and 87 percent in technique... Recorded 34 knockdowns during the year, including a season-high four against four opponents.

2017 (JR): Started all 13 games during the season, including 11 at right guard and two at right tackle... Played 837 snaps, which ranked third on the team among offensive linemen... Had an overall performance grade of 90 percent, which also ranked third on the team... Graded out at 94 percent in effort, 90 percent in assignment and 81 percent in technique... Recorded 51 knockdowns during the year, including a season-high seven against both San José State (9/23) and Hawai’i (11/18).   

JUNIOR COLLEGE: Earned National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) honorable mention All-American honors as an offensive lineman following his sophomore season at Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa... Also earned Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) first-team all-region honors as a sophomore during the 2016 season as he helped the Panthers average 354.6 yards per game with 208.3 yards passing and 146.3 rushing yards... Ellsworth CC finished the 2016 season by winning its third-straight Graphic Edge Bowl by defeating Rochester Community & Technical College, 55-32.  
 
PREVIOUS SCHOOL: Began his collegiate career at Texas Tech, where he redshirted in 2014 and played in all 13 games in 2015 along the offensive line.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was named the Texas 6A Region II District 13 Offensive Lineman of the Year as a prep senior at Round Rock (Texas) High School as he graded out at 93 percent and recorded 68 knockdowns and 49 pancakes. 

PERSONAL: Son of Robert and Misty Castaneda... Has three brothers... Last name is pronounced Cast-uh-ned-uh... Graduated from Utah State in December of 2018 with a general studies degree emphasizing in psychology.
