UTAH STATE: Had a good spring learning the tight end position after playing mainly on the defensive side of the ball in high school.

2016 (RS): Redshirted during his first season at Utah State.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a three-year letterwinner at Big Sky High School in Missoula, Mont… Recorded 52 total tackles, including 11.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks, to go along with two quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and two pass breakups during his career… Helped anchor the fourth-ranked defense in the state as a senior in 2013, recording 38 tackles, including 2.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks, one quarterback hurry, one forced fumble and one pass breakup… Earned second-team all-conference honors and honorable mention all-state honors at outside linebacker… Helped lead the Eagles to consecutive city championships in 2011 and 2012… Also played basketball and participated on the track & field teams at Big Sky HS, earning a combined seven letters… Was a four-time divisional competitor in track & field as the Eagles qualified for state in both 2012 and 2013… Averaged 6.0 points and 2.4 rebounds per game during his senior season of basketball… Academically, graduated with high honors, was an all-state academic selection all four years of high school and was a member of the National Honor Society.

PERSONAL: One of four children of Rich and Diane Thornock… Cousin, Brittany Thornock, was a distance runner on Weber State’s women’s track & field team… Served an LDS Church Mission in Fresno, Calif., from 2013-15... Majoring in sociology.
