HONORS: Academic All-Mountain West (2014, 2016); National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society (2016).

2016 (SR): Played in 10 games and finished the season with two tackles, recording special team stops against San Diego State (10/28) and at Nevada (11/19)… Scored the only touchdown of his career against Fresno State (10/22) as he recovered a blocked punt in the end zone... Earned academic all-Mountain West honors and was named to the National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society.

2015 (JR): Did not play due to injury.

2014 (SO): Played in nine games and recorded a career-high two tackles against San José State (11/21) on special teams... Did not have any other stats during the season.

PREVIOUS SCHOOL: Recorded 34 tackles (22-solo, 12-assist) and an interception as a freshman at Southern Virginia University in 2010.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned Utah Class 5A second-team all-state and first-team all-region honors as a prep senior in 2009 at Viewmont HS in Bountiful, Utah... Was also named his team’s MVP as he carried the ball 66 times for 370 yards (5.6 ypc) with five touchdowns and caught six passes for 38 yards... Also recorded 44 tackles... Had 62 tackles and two interceptions during his junior campaign at Borah High School in Boise, Idaho... Also played baseball at Viewmont HS and helped the Vikings to a 20-7-1 record and a third-place finish as a senior in the state tournament.

PERSONAL: One of four children of Jim and Jana Cheney... Served a two-year LDS Church Mission in Guatemala... Is married to former USU women’s basketball player Elise Nelson… Graduated from Utah State in the spring of 2017 with a business administration degree.
