BJ Edmonds is in his third year with Utah State and second as a defensive graduate assistant after spending his first year with the program as a defensive recruiting analyst.
During the 2022 campaign, Edmonds helped Utah State to six wins and its 10th bowl game in the past 12 seasons, including its second in as many years as it appeared in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl. Â
Overall, the Aggie defense ranked 11th in the nation in tackles for loss (7.2 pg) and 31st in passing (205.0 ypg) in 2022.
In 2021, Edmonds helped the Aggies to their best season in school history as they tied the school record with 11 wins (11-3), won their first-ever Mountain West Championship with a 46-13 victory at No. 19 San Diego State, posted a 24-13 win against Oregon State in the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl and finished the year ranked 24th in the nation.
Edmonds came to USU after spending the 2020 season as an assistant at Kansas Wesleyan.
Edmonds had a four-year career at Arkansas State under head coach Blake Anderson, where he played defensive back. He was a second-team all-Sun Belt Conference selection as a senior in 2019 and garnered honorable mention all-league accolades as a sophomore in 2017.
Edmonds finished his Arkansas State career with 265 tackles, including a career-best 97 in 2019. He had eight career interceptions, to go along with 28 pass breakups and three forced fumbles.
Edmonds earned his bachelor’s degree in 2019 in sports management from Arkansas State and is pursuing his MBA at Utah State.
