Julian Whitehead

Julian Whitehead is in his third year as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Utah State’s football team.

During the 2022 campaign, Whitehead helped Utah State to six wins and its 10th bowl game in the past 12 seasons, including its second in as many years as it appeared in the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl. USU also tied for second place in the Mountain Division of the Mountain West with a 5-3 mark as the Aggies had nine players earn various all-conference accolades, including a pair of All-Americans.

In his first season at Utah State, Whitehead helped the Aggies to their best season in school history as they tied the school record with 11 wins (11-3), won their first-ever Mountain West Championship with a 46-13 victory at No. 19 San Diego State, posted a 24-13 win against Oregon State in the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl and finished the season ranked 24th in the nation in both polls. 

Whitehead came to Utah State after spending the 2020 season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for South Carolina’s football team. Whitehead also spent four years as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for Ole Miss football. He had stops at Middle Tennessee, Kent State and a private training facility in Atlanta, as well.

Whitehead is a former member of the Ole Miss football team, where he was a two-time letterwinner at defensive back and earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science in 2011.  He then finished his playing career at Murray State, where he was also a two-time letterwinner at defensive back and earned his master’s degree in human development and leadership in the fall of 2012.

A native of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Whitehead is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting (USAW) and a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
