  • Title
    Defensive Administrative Assistant

Justin Udy is in his first season with Utah State’s football program as a defensive administrative assistant. In his role, Udy will assist the defensive coaches with daily football operations.

Udy comes to Utah State after spending the past three seasons at South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, S.D., where he served the last two years as the Hardrockers’ offensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator and wide receivers coach.

In 2017, South Dakota School of Mines averaged 31.1 points per game and 448.7 yards of total offense – 248.4 passing, 200.3 rushing – each time out. Running back Brandon LaBrie was tabbed the 2017 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year and was a second-team all-conference pick. LaBrie was one of four all-conference performers for the Hardrockers in 2017.

During the 2016 campaign, South Dakota School of Mines set the school record for total offense in both a game (681 yards vs. Black Hills State) and season (5,486 yards). The Hardrockers also set single-season school bests in rushing yards (2,674) and points (415) that same year.

While at South Dakota School of Mines, Udy coached receivers Marcus Sanchez and Rashad Ridley, who were both all-RMAC performers in 2016. Sanchez is the current record holder for career receiving touchdowns at SDSM.

In his time as a coordinator with the Hardrockers, South Dakota School of Mines set a total of seven offensive school records.

Prior to his time at South Dakota School of Mines, Udy worked at his alma mater, Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Ore. While coaching at EOU from 2011-2015, Udy worked in several different positions, including assistant head coach, special team coordinator and wide receivers coach.

During the 2014 season, Udy helped coach the Mountaineers to an 8-3 record, which tied for the best season in school history at the time. Udy coached Jace Billingsley, who is currently the record holder for receptions in both a season and career, as well as points in a season and career. Billingsley is currently with the Detroit Lions.

Udy graduated from Eastern Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management in 2011. He later earned his master’s degree in business administration in 2013.

The native of Genesee, Idaho, was a quarterback and wide receiver from 2007-11 at Eastern Oregon. He is married to the former Shannon Callow.
