HONORS: Academic All-Mountain West (2015, 2016).

2016 (SR): Played in all 12 games and finished the season with 14 tackles (8-solo, 6-assist), which included 1.0 sacks and 1.5 tackles for loss, to go along with one pass breakup and one blocked punt… Had a season-high three tackles in the season-finale at BYU (11/26) and recorded at least one tackle in nine games… Tied his career high with 1.0 sacks against Fresno State (10/22) as part of his two tackles… Also blocked his first career kick on a punt against the Bulldogs, which was recovered in the end zone for a touchdown… Was credited with a 20-yard punt return against FS with that blocked punt… Had 0.5 tackles for loss against Arkansas State (9/16) and recorded his only pass breakup of the year against New Mexico (11/12)... Earned academic all-Mountain West honors.

2015 (JR): Played in 13 games and made his first career start against Akron (12/22) in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl... Finished the season with 12 tackles (6-solo, 6-assist), which included 0.5 sacks... Had his first career interception at Fresno State (10/10) and his lone pass breakup on the season was against Colorado State (10/3)... Also had a career-high four tackles versus CSU, while adding two stops against both Southern Utah (9/3) and BYU (11/28)... His tackle for loss was against Akron... Earned academic all-Mountain West honors.

2014 (SO): Played in all 14 games and finished the year with five tackles (3-solo, 2-assist), which included his first career sack at Hawai’i (11/1)... Added a career-high two tackles against the Rainbow Warriors... Other tackles were against Idaho State (9/6), UNLV (10/25) and San José State (11/21).

2013 (RS-FR): Did not see any action.

2010 (RS): Redshirted during his first season at Utah State.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned Utah Class 5A second-team all-state honors at cornerback from the Deseret News as a prep senior at Riverton (Utah) High School in 2009 as he recorded 61 total tackles (40-solo, 21-assist) and six interceptions... Also had two fumble recoveries and one blocked punt during the season... Recorded a career-high 20 tackles against West Jordan HS... Offensively, he carried the ball five times for 55 yards (11.0 ypc) with one touchdown and added three receptions for 57 yards (19.0 ypr) with one touchdown... Had 20 total tackles during his junior season.

PERSONAL: One of five sons of Kris and Nan Painter... Served an LDS Church Mission in Russia from 2011-13... Married Audrey Wood in May, 2016... Graduated from Utah State in the spring of 2017 with a degree in human movement science with an emphasis in exercise science.
