Bill Garren

Bill Garren is in his 19th year as the Director of Video Operations for the Utah State athletics department and was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director in 2016.
                
Garren is responsible for managing all aspects of athletic video and editing within the athletics department, which includes training and supervising a staff of student assistants to shoot all football practices and games. His responsibilities also include the day-to-day operations of the video room, overseeing all of the digital TV needs, overseeing Mountain West Conference live streaming, and assisting with the video needs of USU’s 16 intercollegiate sports. Garren also provides technical support and training for coaches and support staff.
                
Garren has been voted the Video Coordinator of the Year a total of 10 times in the Mountain West (2013, 2017, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024) and Western Athletic Conference (2009-12) by his peers and the Collegiate Sports Video Association (CSVA).
                
Prior to his current role at Utah State, Garren served as the video coordinator at Idaho State from 2000-02, before serving as the video coordinator at San José State from 2002-03. He was then an assistant football and track coach at his high school in Montrose, Colo., in 2003, before returning to Idaho State for the 2004 and 2005 seasons as video coordinator.
                
Garren earned a master’s degree in athletic administration from Idaho State in 2005.
                
Garren, who was an all-conference football player at Montrose High School, played two seasons at Ricks College (currently BYU-Idaho) and then one season at Idaho State before beginning his video career. He and his wife Melinda have three children: Maia, Milly and Tyler. Maia was an all-Mountain West thrower and school-record holder in the indoor weight throw on USU’s track & field team. Milly will be a junior thrower on the USU track & field team during the 2024-25 season and Tyler will be a junior at Logan HS and plays on the baseball team.
