Dave Roberson

Dave Roberson is in his second year at Utah State as the Director of Player Personnel.

In 2021, Roberson helped the Aggies to their best season in school history as they tied the school record with 11 wins (11-3), won their first-ever Mountain West Championship with a 46-13 road win at No. 19 San Diego State, posted a 24-13 win against Oregon State in the Jimmy Kimmel LA Bowl and finished the season ranked 24th in the nation in both polls.

Roberson came to Utah State after spending seven seasons (2014-20) as the Director of Player Personnel at Arkansas State, which included serving as the recruiting coordinator for the last four years, under head coach Blake Anderson.

Roberson has 14 years of working experience at the collegiate level, and his first six seasons at Arkansas State saw the program claim back-to-back Sun Belt Conference championships in 2015-16, and appear in six bowl games.

During Roberson’s time at A-State, the Red Wolves had 65 different players earn all-Sun Belt Conference accolades 97 times – the most in the league over that span.

The 2014 team played in the GoDaddy Bowl, while the 2015 squad posted a 9-4 overall record and collected the league title with an unblemished 8-0 mark on its way to the New Orleans Bowl.

The following season in 2016, the Red Wolves overcame an 0-4 start to finish with an 8-5 record that included a 31-13 win over UCF in the Cure Bowl. In 2017, Roberson and the Red Wolves won at least seven games for the fourth-consecutive year and played Middle Tennessee in the Camellia Bowl.

Arkansas State won eight games in 2018 and played Nevada in the Arizona Bowl, while most recently claiming the 2019 Camellia Bowl crown with a 34-26 victory over Florida International.

Prior to Arkansas State, Roberson spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons as an assistant coach at Savannah State as the outside linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator his last season. Roberson helped tutor linebacker Marquis Smith in 2013, when he was named all-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference after leading the team in tackles (124), while also posting two fumble recoveries, a sack and an interception.

Roberson went to Savannah State from Penn State, where he served as the offensive quality control coach in 2011 and 2012 under head coaches Joe Paterno and Bill O’Brien.

Roberson was part of a successful Southern Mississippi football program, led by head coach Larry Fedora, during the 2010 season, when he worked as a defensive assistant under defensive line coach Deke Adams.

Roberson spent the 2009 campaign at Notre Dame College of Ohio, where he was the special teams and linebackers coach, as well as the recruiting coordinator. He assisted head coach Adam Howard successfully start an NCAA Division-II program and was directly responsible for overseeing the 2010 Signing Day class of 55 players.

While working as the co-special teams coordinator at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts, during the 2008 season, Roberson’s special teams units finished the year among the leaders in several statistical categories in the Northeast 10 Conference.

Prior to his time at Stonehill, Roberson served as the Assistant Director of Football Operations and linebackers coach at Norwich University in 2006 and 2007.

Roberson was a four-year letterman at Wilmington College, where he played linebacker and received his bachelor’s degree in sport management in 2003. Roberson is currently working on his master’s degree in educational leadership at Penn State.

Roberson and his wife, Sarah, have a daughter, Reece, and a son, Reed.
