Sanne Louwers

Sanne Louwers (Saun-a Lau-ers) is in her fourth season as assistant coach for the Utah State women’s tennis team.

During the 2019-20 season, Louwers helped the Aggies to a 4-3 overall record, including three straight victories to open dual match play. However, the remainder of the season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Three Aggies earned all-Mountain West honors as Lucy Octave and Hannah Jones were named to the all-singles team, while Jones and Sidnee Lavatai earned all-MW honors in doubles.

During the 2018-19 season, Louwers helped Utah State to a fifth-consecutive postseason win, which is a program record, with a 4-3 win over Boise State in the first round of the Mountain West Tournament. Alexandra Pisareva earned all-Mountain West honors in singles play for the second-consecutive season, while the doubles tandem of Hannah Jones and Alexandra Taylor also earned all-conference honors.

In her first season at USU, Louwers helped the Aggies to a program record-tying 14 wins with an overall 14-12 record, including 3-2 in Mountain West play. Freshman Alexandra Pisareva earned all-Mountain West honors in singles play.

Louwers, who is from Nuenen, Netherlands, was previously an assistant coach at Southern Utah. Prior to her stop at SUU, she spent one season as an assistant coach at her alma mater, LIU Brooklyn.

As a player at LIU Brooklyn, Louwers was named the 2013-14 Northeast Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year, the 2011-12 NEC Rookie of the Year and earned all-NEC honors three years in a row. She posted a career record of 43-17 in doubles play and 52-21 in singles.

Louwers graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management and marketing at LIU Brooklyn and was in the MBA program for a year during her time at Southern Utah.
