Biography

1994-95 SEASON (SR): Earned second-team all-Big West honors his senior season after posting averages of 16.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game… Ranked second on the team in scoring on the season, but led the team in scoring during Big West play at 18.1 points per game… Scored in double-figures 23 times, including in his final 18 games of the season… Was named Big West Player of the Week after games versus New Mexico State (2/13), at UNLV (2/16) and at New Mexico State (2/18) as he averaged 24.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game during the week and led USU to a road sweep over UNLV and New Mexico State… His 35 points versus New Mexico State was a career-high as he went 12-of-24 from the field, 6-of-16 from three-point range and 5-of-5 from the free throw line to go along with a career-high eight rebounds… Led the Aggies in scoring 12 times during the season, including in six of the final seven games… Had a huge game against Illinois State in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament as he scored 28 points on 10-of-24 shooting along with six rebounds, three assists and two steals… Started 25 games and appeared in 27 of a possible 29, averaging 31.3 minutes per game… Was the second-best shooter from three-point range on the team, shooting 41.4 percent (60-145) on the year.
 
1993-94 SEASON (JR): Appeared in all 27 games, including 19 starting assignments… Ranked as Utah State’s second-leading scorer (13.2 points)… Scored in double-figures 18 times, including the last six games in a row (18.2 scoring average during that stretch)… Made 15 out of his last 34 three-point field goal attempts (.441)… Had six 20-point games, including a season-high 31 in the Aggies’ 68-78 loss to UC Irvine in the first round of the Big West Tournament… Scored 21 second-half points at Pacific (7-8 from the field)… His layup with :06 left in overtime gave Utah State its first-ever victory (26 tries) over UNLV 82-81… Also had a big second half against Runnin’ Rebels, scoring 18 of his 20 points after the intermission… Netted 22 of his game-high 24 points in the second half at New Mexico State… Stood fourth in the Big West in free-throw percentage at 771… Had a season-high five assists vs. Long Beach State.
 
JUNIOR COLLEGE: Transferred from Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla., where he averaged 14.3 points and 5.3 assists per game as a sophomore during ’92-’93 season… Led his team to a 23-7 mark… Shot 49 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free-throw line… Chipola posted a 47-17 record during his two year career… Finished fourth in the MVP voting in a league that placed 25 players in Division I programs… Helped his team beat Pensacola College (the eventual junior college national champion) three times as a sophomore.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: A prolific scorer in high school, averaging 41 points per game for the Demons of Fike High School in Wilson, N.C… Also pulled down eight rebounds and dished out five assists a game… Didn’t play basketball until his junior year in high school… Posted a high game of 53 points and 10 steals… Earned all-district and all-state honors as the team MVP his senior season… Led his team to the state finals as a junior… Recruited out of high school by North Carolina State and Tennessee… Credits his high school coach (Harvey Reid) and his JC coach (Milton Johnson) as two positive influences on his life… Both Reid and Johnson are 800-game winners at their respective levels of coaching.
