Biography

1998-99 SEASON (SR): Was an all-Big West Second Team selection his senior season as he led the Aggies in scoring with 14.3 points per game, and starting in 26 of a possible 28 contests… Led the team and the conference in rebounding, pulling down 8.3 boards per contest… Scored in double-figures 23 times, while scoring 20-plus points three times… Went for a career-high 28 points at North Texas (2/27) in the final game of the regular season as he went 12-of-13 from the field and 4-of-7 from the free throw line to go along with seven rebounds… Had six double-doubles on the year, including an outing at Fresno State (12/10) where he went for 17 points and a season-high 15 rebounds… Had a 16-point, 14-rebound outing against New Mexico State (1/30)… Led the Aggies in scoring on 10 occasions, including the final three games of the regular season, and led the team’s rebounding efforts on 12 occasions… Led the team in blocks and ranked fourth in the Big West with 31, nearly half of the team’s total blocks… His 31 blocks also rank eighth most in a single season in program history… Also ranked fourth on the team with 23 steals… Shot 58.1 percent (162-279) from the field on the year, and 57.6 percent (76-132) from the free throw line… Finished his career ranking fifth in career field goal percentage (.565) and career total blocks (53), and 12thin career rebounds per game (7.9).
 
1997-98 SEASON (JR): A Big West all-Tournament selection after averaging 12.0 points and 9.7 rebounds while helping the Aggies to the tournament championship… Ranked fourth in the Big West in rebounding and was 10thin blocks… Really came on in the last third of the season, scoring in double-figures in 10 of the last 12 games after netting 10-plus points in just six of the first 21 contests… Recorded 12 points on five-of-six shooting and added six rebounds in the NCAA Tournament game against Maryland… Had a 20-point, 20-rebound game against Long Island and earned Big West Player of the Week honors in December… Grabbed at least 10 rebounds in nine games and had five double-doubles on the year… Scored at least 20 points on three occasions, including a season-high 21 against Nevada… Also added 12 rebounds in that game… Was a 53.8 percent free throw shooter on the season, but hit 15-of-24 (.625) in the last six games of the year… Blocked four shots against Radford, while also recording 17 points and 10 rebounds… In the Big West Championship game against NBA first-round draft pick Michael Olowokandi of Pacific, he had 10 points and eight rebounds, while blocking one shot and committing just one turnover in 37 minutes… Suffered a fractured jaw and lost three teeth nine minutes into the Cal Poly game, but played two days later against UC Santa Barbara, starting the game and playing 20 minutes.
 
JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played two seasons at Pearl River Junior College… Earned honorable mention All-America honors and was an all-region selection… Averaged 24.2 points and 14.4 rebounds, while adding 69 assists, 30 blocks and 26 steals as a sophomore… Shot 54.8 percent from the field and 65.3 percent from the free throw line… Also made 27.3 percent of his three-point field goal attempts… As a freshman he averaged 17.9 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, while adding 50 blocks, 30 assists and 29 steals… Shot 53.7 percent from the field and 65.6 percent from the free throw line… Team won the state championship and he was named all-region.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Named the 6A Player of the Year in the state of Alabama after his senior season… His team won the state title his senior year… Averaged 25 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks per game.
 
PERSONAL: Born August 3, 1975 at Selma, Ala… Majoring in philosophy… Would like to coach after his playing days are through… Son of Joyce Johnson.
