Earned all-Mountain West First Team honors... Played and started all 34 games, averaging 29.6 minutes per contest, second-most on the team... Led the team in scoring with 16.4 points per game... Scored in double-figures in the team's first 33 games... Shot 43.5 percent (165-of-379) from the floor, 36.6 percent (78-of-213) from 3-point range and 87.6 percent (149-of-170) at the free throw line... Scored 20-plus points eight times and 30-plus points twice... Prepped at JSerra Catholic in San Juan Capistrano, California, where he was a four-star recruit according to Rivals and 247Sports... Named all-CIF Southern Section (Division I), OC Register all-Orange County first team and first-team all-Trinity League after averaging 23.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game for the Lions... Helped guide his team to the CIF Southern Section semifinals and a CIF state championship regional quarterfinal as a senior... Led JSerra to a 22-8 overall record and a second-round appearance in the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs as a junior... Garnered all-Orange County, all-CIF Division I and all-Trinity League first-team honors in his first year at JSerra... PERSONAL
Son of Henry and Helen Martinez, who both played college basketball... Father, Henry, was an assistant men’s basketball coach at Utah for two seasons (2019-21) and spent 15 years as a player and a coach with the Costa Rican National Team... Parents started the ProBasket Academy in Costa Rica in 2002 with the purpose of promoting and developing basketball in the country... Has an older brother, Avery, and a younger sister, Noa... Brother, Avery, also played college basketball... Grandfather was a famous chef in Costa Rica.
