2000-01 SEASON (RS): Redshirted during the 2000-01 season at Utah State.
 
JUNIOR COLLEGE: Named the Junior College Player of the Year in California after his sophomore season, as he averaged 22.7 points and 12.5 rebounds… Holds school records for career points (1491) and rebounds (758)… Also holds the single season rebounding record with 412, and scored the second most points in a single season with 742 in 2000, trailing only Tony Harvey (801) who played at Utah… In his two years at Cerritos, he led his team to a 60-12 record and a state championship… A first-team all-South Coast Conference player both years.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: A three-time first-team all-Moore league selection… Named all-CIF twice and MVP and player of the year in his conference twice… Averaged 21 points and 13 rebounds his senior year.
 
PERSONAL: Born July 20, 1979 in Lynwood, Calif… Son of Ernest Gayle… Majoring in physical education… Has a daughter named Leasia Gayle.
