Biography

2010-11 SEASON (SR.): Was the cornerstone of the team, leading the Aggies in points, rebounds and steals per game… An extraordinary statistical season earned him honorable mention Associated Press All-America honors as well as being named the WAC Player of the Year… Named to the all-WAC first-team for the second consecutive season… Averaged career-best marks of 14.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, to go along with 2.1 assists per game… Started all 34 games, making it three consecutive seasons without missing a start to move to third in total career starts at USU (128)… Averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game during the WAC tournament to make the WAC all-tournament team for the third consecutive year… Had seven double-doubles during the season, giving him 16 for his career… Tied a career-high of 27 points against Hawai’i (12/29) as he shot 8-of-12 from the field and a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line, tying his 27-point output from his freshman season, also against Hawai’i… Pulled down a career-best 14 rebounds against Long Beach State (12/7)… Led the team in scoring on 13 occasions, while scoring in double figures a team-best 28 times including a streak of 11 games in a row to finish the season and breaking the 20-point marker on seven different occasions… Also recorded double figures in rebounds eight times, while leading the team in rebounding in 16 games… Led the team in field goal percentage while taking and making the most shots on the team, shooting 59.9% from the field (176-294)… Led the team’s defensive efforts with a team-best 36 blocks and a second-best mark of 27 steals… Against Kansas State in the NCAA Tournament, he led the team’s scoring and rebounding efforts, going for 18 points and six rebounds.
 
2009-10 SEASON (JR.): One of three players on the team along with Jared Quayle and Tyler Newbold to start all 35 games, which is tied for the most in school history... Earned first-team all-WAC honors as he ranked fourth in the league in field goal shooting (.574), fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.86), sixth in blocked shots (1.31), 10th in rebounding (6.6), 11th in assists (3.34), 13th in scoring (13.7) and 15th in free throw shooting (.701)... Also ranked 12th in the nation in field goal shooting... Led the team in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots, and ranked second in assists (117) and steals (20)... Scored in double-figures 29 times, including three 20-point games... Had a season-high 24 points against New Mexico State (3/6) as he was 9-of-10 from the field and 6-of-9 at the free throw line... Posted three double-doubles during the year, including two in the WAC Tournament as he had 18 points and 10 rebounds against Boise State (3/11) in the quarterfinals and 13 points to go along with a career-high 12 rebounds against New Mexico State (3/13) in the championship game... Was named to the WAC’s all-tournament team for the second-straight year as he averaged 13.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists, while shooting 51.4 percent from the field... Scored 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Texas A&M (3/19)... Was named the WAC’s Player of the Week twice during the season... His first honor came on Dec. 28 after being named the Most Valuable Player of the USU hosted Basketball Travelers Invitational as the Aggies defeated Morehead State (79-72), Cal State Fullerton (83-60) and Weber State (85-73)... During the three-day tournament, he averaged 16.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.7 blocks, while shooting 65.4 percent from the field and 69.6 percent at the free throw line... His second WAC Player of the Week honor came on March 8 after leading USU to a pair of home wins against Fresno State (76-39) and New Mexico State (81-63) to claim its third-straight regular season WAC title... During the week, he averaged 22.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.5 blocks, while shooting 82.6 percent from the field... Earned NABC All-District 6 second-team honors, Sporting News first-team honors and NetScouts Basketball first-team honors... Led the team in scoring 15 times, in rebounding 13 times and in assists 10 times... Took 17 charges during the year to lead the team and ranked second overall with 10 dunks... Voted the Most Inspirational Player by his teammates, along with Brian Green, for the second year in a row.
 
2008-09 SEASON (SO.): Started all 35 games for Utah State and finished the season averaging 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game, while shooting 59.2 percent from the field and 68.4 percent from the free throw line... Earned NABC All-District 6 second-team honors... Ranked second in the WAC in field goal shooting and was 11th in rebounding... Scored in double-figures 26 times during the year, including two 20-point games... Had a season-high 26 points and a career-high five steals against Boise State (1/17) at home as he was 9-of-12 from the field and 7-of-12 from the free throw line... Posted four double-doubles during the season, including 14 points and a then career-high tying 11 rebounds at Nevada (3/14) in the championship game of the WAC Tournament... Was named to the WAC’s all-tournament team as he averaged 10.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game...  Was one assist shy of recording just the fourth triple-double in school history at home against Weber State (11/25) as he had 14 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists... Named to the USU hosted Duel in the Desert all-tournament team as he averaged 15.3 points and 6.3 rebounds... Was USU’s top rebounder 14 times, its top scorer eight times and its top assist man six times... Led the team for the second year in a row with 11 charges taken to go along with five dunks... Voted the Most Inspirational Player by his teammates.
 
2007-08 SEASON (R-FR.): Started 24 games and played in all 35 in his first season at Utah State... Finished the year averaging 9.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists, while shooting 63.5 percent from the field and 72.2 percent from the free throw line... Played 22.7 minutes per game... Averaged 11.6 points and 5.4 rebounds as a starter... Ranked first on the team and eighth in the WAC with 0.9 blocks (33)... Was also first on the team and third in the WAC in field goal shooting, which ranks sixth all-time at Utah State for a single-season... Scored in double-figures 18 times, including three 20-point games... Scored a season-high 27 points against Hawai’i (1/3) as he was 7-of-8 from the field and 13-of-16 from the free throw line... Those 27 points are the second-most ever scored by a USU freshman in a single-game, trailing the 28 points scored by Jaycee Carroll against UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 6, 2005... Posted two double-doubles during the season as he had 11 points and a season-high 11 rebounds against Prairie View A&M (12/15), and 13 points and 10 rebounds at Nevada (2/11)... Recorded a season-high six blocks against San Jose State (3/13) in the first round of the WAC Tournament, which is tied for the third-most blocks in a single-game in school history... Posted a season-high six assists against Utah Valley (12/20)...  Was USU’s leading scorer three times and its top rebounder five times... Played 20-plus minutes in 25 games and 30 or more minutes in 10 games... Took 20 charges during the season to lead the team and was second in dunks with six.
 
2004-05 SEASON (RS): Redshirted during his first year at Utah State.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Named Mr. Basketball in the state of Utah by the Deseret News and the 4A Most Valuable Player by the Salt Lake Tribune as a prep senior... Averaged 16.7 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and one steal per game during his senior season, while shooting 65 percent from the field... Led Provo High School to the state title as he was named tournament MVP after averaging 19.3 points in four games... Is the third Player of the Year from the state of Utah to play for head coach Stew Morrill, joining Tony Brown and Nate Harris... A graduate of the same high school that produced Morrill.
 
PERSONAL: Full name is Tai William Evans Wesley... Born May 13, 1986 in Orem, Utah... One of seven children of Susan and Hiagi Wesley... Is the younger brother of former Brigham Young standout Mekeli Wesley, Russell Wesley who played at Utah Valley, and 2003 all-state selection Tika Wesley... Majoring in interdisciplinary studies... Enjoys golfing, boating and playing video games... Returned from a two-year LDS Church Mission in Oaxaca, Mexico in May, 2007... First name is pronounced Tie.
