Quim Gomez

Quim Gomez

Quim (pronounced Kim) Gomez is entering his second year at Utah State after being hired in May 2025.

In his first year with the Aggies, Gomez helped USU to a 6-24 record, including a 6-6 start to the season which saw the team climb to its highest-ever NET ranking. The early-season span also featured a five-game home winning streak a the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, the program's longest home win streak since the 2017-18 season. Due to a number of injuries, the Aggies started 17 different starting lineups, the most in the Mountain West and second-most nationally. Utah State still improved dramatically on the defensive end, holding opponents to 6.8 fewer points per 100 possessions than the previous season. On offense, USU's marks of 177 made 3-pointers ranked sixth all-time in program history while the team's 75.0 percent mark from the free throw line ranks fifth all-time at Utah State. Following the season, three Aggies were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team in Macie Brown, Elise Livingston and Karyn Sanford.

Gomez arrived to USU after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach and lead of student development at Western Michigan. At WMU, Gomez helped the Broncos earn three all-MAC honors and a pair of MAC all-defensive team selections. Western Michigan qualified for the MAC Tournament in both seasons with Gomez on staff.

Prior to his time with the Broncos, Gomez spent two seasons as a General Manager, Sports Director, and coach at Sabadell BQ Valles, a club in his hometown where he coached. As the head coach, Gomez not only led his U16 team to the Catalunya State Championship in 2022, but he also qualified for the Spanish National Championship the same season.

A native of Sabadell (Barcelona, Spain), Gomez graduated from Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona with a degree in history in 2009 and earned the Highest National Basketball Coaching Certification in Spain during 2014. Gomez began his head coaching career in 2001, where he led several teams at grassroots levels. After short stints in clubs CB Castellar, Sferic, and Sant Pere, Gomez returned to CN Sabadell in 2012 where he signed as a Girls' Basketball Sports Director and head coach of various teams. During his tenure at CN Sabadell, Gomez helped grow the program into a national powerhouse in the Spanish girls' basketball system, with more than 10 players that Gomez coached moving on to play at the NCAA Division I and national level. Additionally, as a head coach, he led the U12 (2016) and U15 (2019) teams to state championships.

Gomez also coached the University of Barcelona men's team for two seasons, winning the Regional Gold Medal and the Bronze medal at the Spanish National championships in 2008.

As a player, Gomez played in several clubs in Spain such as CN Sabadell, CB Castellar, UE Sant Cugat, CB Montcada, Sant Quirze BC CB Sant Pere, CB Cerdanyola, and CB Nou Badia at the amateur level.
