Shelby Capllonch (cap-ee-on) enters her first season at Utah State after being named assistant coach/director of operations by head coach Keith Smith in February of 2026. 

Capllonch joins the Aggies after spending the past season as an assistant coach and strength & conditioning coordinator at the College of Southern Nevada. Working with the Coyotes, Capllonch helped coach libero/defensive specialist Tia Alofipo to second-team all-ACCAC honors while setting a new school record with 4.65 digs per set. Capllonch designed and led all team strength, conditioning, speed, and weightlifting sessions and also assisted with practice planning, defensive systems, scouting, and player development.

A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Capllonch played the final two years of her collegiate career at Utah State, earning all-Mountain West honors in 2023. She helped the Aggies to a MW Tournament title in 2022, earning Tournament MVP honors, and a regular season title in 2023 as USU made back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000-01. Capllonch finished her Aggie career with over 660 kills while hitting .228, also amassing 625 digs and over 60 blocks while recording 18 double-doubles. 

Prior to USU, Capllonch spent three seasons at UNLV where she earned all-MW honorable mention as a sophomore and helped the Rebels to the 2021 NIVC title, earning all-tournament honors in the process. She was also a member of the 2020-21 UNLV squad that made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Across her time with USU and UNLV, Capllonch totaled over 1,300 kills alongside over 1,600 digs, 130 blocks and 140 service aces. In the classrom, Capllonch was a four-time academic All-Mountain West honoree and two-time MW Scholar-Athlete. Capllonch graduated from Utah State in 2024 with a degree in integrated studies.
