LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis team lost its second match in as many days and is in the midst of a three-match losing streak after suffering a 6-1 loss to Loyola Marymount on Saturday.

Johannes Zelle and Joao Pinho did their best to set the tone for USU with their 8-2 victory in doubles play at the number one spot. One more victory in match play would have given USU the doubles point.

Bryan Marchant and Michael Banks were close to getting that victory, as they jumped out to a 6-3 lead at the number three spot in doubles. However, they dropped their next five points to lose 8-6.

Almost winning would sum up the day for the Aggies, as singles play followed the same pattern. Zelle also led 5-2 in the first set of his number one singles match, but ended up losing 7-5, and then dropped the second set 6-3. Dantley Young was within a point of winning his match at number three in the tiebreaker before he lost 7-6.

Bryan Marchant was the lone Aggie to pick up a point for the team, making his victories the only two points the Aggies have picked up in the last two matches. Bryan won his match at number four, and just like Friday, won in tiebreaker fashion with scores of 7-6, 1-6, and 6-1.

The Aggies resume play Sunday as they host Montana at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club at noon.
