LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's tennis served up it's first shutout win of the season, overwhelming Mesa State, 7-0. The Aggies record their fourth straight victory and improve to 4-2 on the season. While Mesa State falls to 1-4.

USU got things started by winning all three of the doubles matches. The most impressive of the three wins was by senior Bryan Marchant and sophomore Sven Poslusny, 8-1. The Aggies are 4-0 when they win at the No. 1 position in doubles action. Senior Alex Thatcher and freshman Fredrik Peter battled hard to gain the 8-6 victory over sophomores Brason Hollabaugh and Andres Hernandez, the final double win came from senior's Nikita Ryashchenko and Jakob Asplund, 8-4.

It was a complete team effort in singles action as each player for the Aggies won in straight-sets. Jakob Asplund continued his red-hot streak in singles action, Asplund was able to get his fourth straight singles match victory by defeating Hollabaugh 6-1, 6-3. Peterson was able to win his first singles match victory of the season as he defeated Hernandez 6-2, 6-1.

The Aggies will close out their homestand and look to extend their winning streak to five on Saturday Feb. 5 at 10 a.m. as they take on the Montana State Bobcats. The Bobcats will travel to Logan to take on the Aggies after facing BYU Friday night.

All matches will be played at the Sports Academy and Racquet Club, admission is free and open to the public. Come support the Aggies tomorrow as they take on the Bobcats.
