UTAH STATE MEN'S BASKETBALL
Post-Game Quotes
vs. Air Force - Jan. 12, 2016
Utah State Head Coach Tim Duryea:
"I was really pleased with our team's effort. And obviously when you play Air Force, your defensive discipline has to be really tight and our guys did a good job in that area as far as carrying out defensive assignments, keeping their discipline, understanding what we were trying to take away. We gave up one backdoor layup which is a huge key when you play them. The key to the game was the defense out of our point guards. When you do that good of a job on Trevor Lyons and don't give him a field goal that says a lot. Shane and Darius both did a really good job of guarding him, that was probably the key to the game.
"Offensively we didn't have an offensive lull tonight because our ball kept moving, our ball movement was good, we moved our bodies, but the ball kept changing sides of the floor. We've really been talking about that and because of it I think that's why we didn't have one of those three or four or five minute stretches where we kind of started standing around, making one or two passes and shooting a questionable shot. Offensively we were better tonight. Our 3-point percentage wasn't as good as I thought it could be, but we got a lot of really good looks and just didn't knock them down. But we'll do that, if we keep playing the right way, we'll shoot the ball better from three."
Utah State Junior Guard Shane Rector:
"It was a good team win, and I am just happy we got the W. We knew we had to pick it up because we don't want to go 1-4 in conference play. We have a strong team, everyone came together, and we had a great performance. We had it clicking today off the bench. (Julion) Pearre was hitting, I came in and got some buckets, and it's always nice to get a spark from the bench players."
Air Force Head Coach Dave Pilipovich:
"We're struggling to score right now. We've had some drives that we haven't finished along with some interior baskets that we haven't finished. Not only did we not finish those shots, but after our guards drove inside Utah State then pushed it in transition. We put a lot of pressure on our guards tonight by missing layups, forcing them to go rim-to-rim to stop transition baskets."
