LOGAN, Utah - Utah State head football coach Matt Wells held a press conference Monday in the Founders Room on the 18th floor of the Zions Bank Tower to recap the Aggies' 24-21 loss against New Mexico and preview their upcoming road game against Nevada. A complete transcript of the press conference can be found below.

Head Coach Matt Wells
On recapping New Mexico:
"It was a tough loss for our players and for our program. The way that game ended was tough emotionally. To fight and to see the resiliency in those players and not be able to come out with the win in the end was tough. But as the days go by and the weeks go by, this is a team that I have really grown to respect more and more. To see the way they persevere, to see their resiliency, from the texts that I get late at night - 1:30 in the morning - to yesterday the players that were in the office, they just keep coming back, they keep fighting and they believe in the process and believe in this program. I am more convinced than I've ever been that we're doing it right and that these kids are continuing to fight, and for that I'm encouraged. It doesn't take away the hurt and it doesn't take away the sting because there is so much invested. The more and more that we all invest, the more it does hurt, but the thrill of victory tastes that much sweeter, too."

On previewing Nevada:
"Nevada is similar to us in a lot of ways in that they are very talented, they've had some close losses, they're searching for a win and fighting and scratching at the end of the year, so I know we'll get a very good game with them. We have to go on the road and find a way to win. The team meeting this morning went really well. There are a lot of positives in the demeanor and the makeup of these players, so for that, we're going to continue to fight."

On if the Mountain West called him to address the offensive pass interference call on Ron'Quavion Tarver:
"I had a couple of discussions yesterday with the Mountain West and I'll just leave it at this: You saw what I saw, and they know that."

On what he remembers from last year's Nevada game besides the comeback:
"That's what you remember, you remember the terrific comeback. You remember the feeling in that locker room. I remember Jake Thompson hitting a key field goal. I remember Aaron Dalton hitting a great punt inside the 10-yard line, Jentz Painter stopping it right at the one, I remember the fumble and the Kyler Fackrell recovery. All those key plays are some great individual plays wrapped up within a team win. So, those are the things that stick out in my mind."

On what he thought about junior quarterback Kent Myers' play against New Mexico:
"He started quick and finished fast. Kent was very, very accurate with the ball. He made good decisions in the passing game. The interception wasn't good. We had several parts of that route in protection that we didn't execute well. At the end of the day, the ball was in the quarterback's hands and we need to just throw it away. But, he executed very well, he threw deep balls very accurately and he played a good game."

On what it's meant to not have senior running back Devante Mays be at 100 percent for so long:
"I'll say this, Devante Mays is a really talented running back. He's big, strong and physical, and when he's healthy, he's in the upper echelon of backs in this league. We're a different offense with him, as evidenced last year when we got on a roll and started playing very well. Tonny Lindsey has been very consistent, has caught the ball well and he's run tough. So, I've been pleased with Tonny. He puts a lot of passion, a lot of effort into his preparation and has done a very nice job for us."

On if there's any preparation changes playing in the afternoon against Nevada:
"Not really, just taking up basically a long layoff out of the middle of the day on Saturday. Right now on the road, we can stand a little bit of a change." On if laying around waiting for a late game doesn't help the team: "Let's be real, when you're winning and you're confident, things are rolling and you can play at any time, like 8:15 p.m. We had a lot of 8:15 p.m. games, if I'm not mistaken, in the 2014 season - it sure seemed like a lot down the stretch. Our players and coaches certainly welcome an afternoon kick, so this will be good."

On Nevada running back James Butler:
"He's got strong legs, he runs with good balance, he's shifty and guys hit him and you see him spin or move out of a hit and fall forward to make a couple yards here and there. He's been a very productive back for them over time, and been a very durable player, too."

On how he, the coaches and players are doing:
"It's been tough just because there's the human factor of disappointment. Concerning how the coaches are doing, we're just like the players. We're human. You're disappointed in a loss, but you believe in the team, you believe in the process and you believe in what we're doing and how we're coaching them to do it. The coaches are also energized by the players' reactions and the players' continued commitment to turning this, flipping it this week, doing it the right way and continuing to invest. They're fighting and we're fighting right next to them."
