After falling behind early in the game, Utah State softball was never able to make the comeback and ended its weekend in a five-inning 15-1 loss at Fresno State Sunday.

The Aggies utilized three pitchers in Sunday's game, with sophomore Kellie White making the start. Senior Jordyn McCracken threw one inning, while freshman Delaney Hull played the final innings and earned the only two strikeouts of the game. Sophomore designated player/catcher Allanah Alvarado had the best day at the plate for the Aggies, as she went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles and the sole RBI of the game.

With the loss, Utah State falls to 13-22 overall, including a 3-9 Mountain West record. Fresno State improves to 24-15 on the year and 7-2 in conference action.

Utah State opened the game with a single from freshman outfielder Leah Molina, but the next three batters were retired. Things unraveled quickly for the Aggie defense, as Fresno State put up eight runs in the bottom of the first. After seven runs and two outs, McCracken came in to pitch, allowing one last single before she made the final out on a line drive.

The Aggies fared much the same in the second inning. Alvarado had the sole hit of the top half of the inning, before the team allowed another six Fresno State runs. The Bulldogs put together four hits, including a double, triple and home run. Hull came in to pitch with two outs on the board, allowing one run on a wild pitch before earning a strikeout to end the inning.

Utah State scored its one run in the top of the fourth. Sophomore second baseman Devan Sperry doubled to right field and was able to score on a single from Alvarado. Fresno State also added one run in the bottom of the inning. The Aggies had one last hit in the top of the fifth, but a double play ended the game.

Fresno State tallied 11 hits to Utah State's six, while the Aggies added two errors in the game.

The Aggies return to Logan now for a busy week of competition. Utah State will host Idaho State on Wednesday, April 11, at 4 p.m. Mountain West play will continue as the Aggies welcome Colorado State for a three-game series, April 13-15.
