LOGAN, Utah – Utah State freshman Isaac Arevalo Gómez was named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Sept. 16, it was announced Monday. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.

It is the first time this year and first time in his career that the freshman from Mazatlan, Mexico, has been named USU's student-athlete of the week.

With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.

Arevalo Gómez won the singles bracket title at the Midland Invitational in Midland, Texas, where he beat New Mexico's Dominic West in straight sets 6-2, 6-3. With the win, Arevalo Gómez moved to 5-0 in singles play to start his Aggie career, becoming the first Aggie since Tomas Cosmai in 2014 to capture a fall tournament title. The start is the best for an Aggie freshman since Tanner Dance went 3-1 in 2009.
