ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Utah State volleyball battled on the road at New Mexico Saturday, taking a five-set win over the Lobos.
New Mexico took control early in the first set, including a 10-point run in the middle. The Aggies battled back, but the Lobos took the set, 25-19. Utah State took control early in the second, never trailing until the Lobos went ahead 23-22 before winning 25-23.
The Aggies came out strong in the third set, leading from start to finish to win 25-15 and keep the match going. USU's run continued through the fourth set, which it won 25-17. The reverse sweep was completed in the fifth set, which went to the Aggies, 15-11.

Hailey Cuff led the Utah State attack, hitting a career-best .368 with a career-high 18 kills. Junior opposite side hitter
Bailey Downing tallied a seas``on-best 11 kills, while leading the team with nine blocks. Sophomore middle blocker
Corinne Larsen added nine blocks as well, while sophomore middle
Autumn Spafford put up eight.
Utah State's setters both recorded double-doubles in Saturday's win. Freshman
Kalena Vaivai recorded 21 assists and 11 digs, while senior
Heidi Carpenter tallied 21 assists and 10 digs.
On the day, Utah State hit .226 (50-17-146), its second-highest hitting percentage of the season. New Mexico finished the match hitting .100 (56-39-170).
Utah State returns home next week for a pair of conference matches. The Aggies will host Wyoming on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m., then Colorado State on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 1 p.m.
