Former Utah State Football Player Quin Ficklin Joining Tampa Bay Buccaneers

LOGAN, Utah – 
Former Utah State offensive lineman Quin Ficklin has joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he has been invited to the team's rookie minicamp.
 
Ficklin joins seven other former Aggies who have joined NFL teams over the weekend. Tight end Dax Raymond and wide receiver Ron'quavion Tarver both signed with the Chicago Bears, linebacker Jontrell Rocquemore and safety Aaron Wade both signed with the Cleveland Browns, offensive lineman Roman Andrus and safety Gaje Ferguson both signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, and wide receiver Aaren Vaughns signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
 
The eight players listed above joins Darwin Thompson in the NFL as the running back was drafted in the sixth round (214th overall pick) by the Kansas City Chiefs.
 
The nine Utah State players listed above will join 14 other former Aggies who are currently on NFL rosters, including safety Maurice Alexander (Buffalo Bills), cornerback Jalen Davis (Miami Dolphins), safety Marwin Evans (Seattle Seahawks), linebacker Kyler Fackrell (Green Bay Packers), offensive guard Tyler Larsen (Carolina Panthers), defensive back Nevin Lawson (Oakland Raiders), safety Dallin Leavitt (Oakland Raiders), running back Devante Mays (Cleveland Browns), long snapper Patrick Scales (Chicago Bears), wide receiver Hunter Sharp (Cincinnati Bengals), running back Robert Turbin (Oakland Raiders), linebacker Nick Vigil (Cincinnati Bengals), linebacker Bobby Wagner (Seattle Seahawks) and running back Kerwynn Williams (Detroit Lions).
 
Ficklin, a 6-foot-2, 300-pounder from Mesa, Ariz. (Red Mountain HS/BYU), earned first-team all-Mountain West honors from both the league's coaches and Phil Steele's Magazine after starting all 13 games at center in 2018. As a senior, he had an overall performance grade of 95 percent and played in 825 snaps, both of which ranked first on the team among offensive linemen. For the season, he graded out at 96 percent in effort, 92 percent in assignment and 88 percent in technique as he did not allow a single sack and posted a team-best 53 knockdowns.
 
As a junior, Ficklin earned third-team all-Mountain West honors from Phil Steele's Magazine and honorable mention all-league honors from the league's coaches after starting all 13 games at center. Overall, he had an overall performance grade of 93 percent and played in 911 snaps, both of which ranked first on the team among offensive linemen. For the season, he graded out at 96 percent in effort, 89 percent in assignment and 82 percent in technique as he allowed just one sack, while adding a team-best 56 knockdowns. 
 
Ficklin was named a semifinalist for the Burlsworth Trophy as a senior, along with being named to the Rimington Trophy Watch list as both a junior and senior. He also earned academic all-Mountain West honors in 2017. The Burlsworth Trophy is given annually to the most outstanding college football player who began his career as a walk-on, while the Rimington Trophy is annually awarded to the player considered to be the best center in college football.
