LOGAN, Utah - Utah State is looking to avoid an 0-2 start for the second consecutive year when the Aggies play Richmond in the opening game of the Veterans Classic at the U.S. Naval Academy on Friday, Nov. 12, at 4 p.m. (MT). Fans can watch the game live on the CBS Sports Network (Xfinity Ch. 269/753HD, DISH Ch. 158, DirecTV Ch. 221).

Opening Tips
• Despite starting 0-2 a season ago, USU qualified for its three-straight NCAA Tournament in as many years.

• Utah State head coach Ryan Odom is returning to his roots in the Aggies' first road trip of the year, as Odom coached at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, for five years before being taking the helm at USU.

• Utah State entered the 2021-22 season with three players in pursuit of 1,000 points in their respective careers. Senior forward Brandon Horvath passed the mark in the season opener, scoring a team-best 19 points to increase his career total to 1,005. Senior forward Justin Bean (869 points) and senior guard Brock Miller (849 points) are also closing in on 1,000.

• Bean recorded his 27th-career double-double in the season opener against UC Davis, finishing the game with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Bean is now tied for No. 8 on the all-time double-double list in Utah State history, matching Brian Jackson's career total of 27 from 1978-81. Bean needs two more double-doubles to move into a tie for seventh with Jimmy Moore (1973-75).

• Bean is the only returning player in the Mountain West to average 11+ points, 7.5+ rebounds, 1.5+ assists and 1.0+ steals per game from a season ago.

• Bean is on pace to become just the third Aggie in school history to finish his career with more than 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds. Currently, Bean has totaled 869 points and 702 career rebounds.

• Utah State finished last season 20-9, marking the third-straight year with 20 or more wins and the first time the Aggies have won 20 games or more in three-consecutive seasons since 2010-13.

• Utah State finished the year averaging 72.6 points and 40.7 rebounds per game, continuing a streak of three-straight years with 70 or more points and 40 or more rebounds per game.

• Since the year 2000, only 17 teams have recorded 16 seasons with 20 or more wins and 11 NCAA Tournament bids (Utah State, Kentucky, Florida, North Carolina, Duke, Syracuse, Kansas, Texas, Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Arizona, Xavier, Creighton, Butler, BYU and Gonzaga).
