LOGAN, Utah –
Steven Ashworth scored a career-high 28 points in Utah State men's basketball's 84-62 victory over Bradley (1-1) on Friday night as USU remains undefeated this season.
The junior guard also had career highs in free throws made (11) and free throws attempted (12).
Three forwards scored in double figures as sophomore
Zee Hamoda had 15 points, graduate
Taylor Funk had 13, and graduate
Dan Akin had 10.
Duke Deen led the Braves with 15 points tonight, while 12 points came from teammate Zek Montgomery.
After senior
Trevin Dorius won the opening tip, the Aggies dominated the Braves. The Braves failed to have a lead in the game as the Aggies never left less than an eight-point buffer after a 9-0 run in the first half.
Utah State won the rebounding battle with 46 boards compared to Bradley's 31. Akin led the game with 11 total rebounds for the double-double.
The Aggies' offense racked up 84 points, shooting 44.6 percent (25-of-56) from the field, including a 3-point shooting rate of 45.8 percent (11-of-24), and 85.2 percent (23-of-27) from the charity stripe. Hamoda had career-highs in both 3-pointers (3), and free throws made (4).
On the defensive front, the Aggies held the Braves to 34.5 percent (20-of-58) shooting from the field, 34.8 percent (8-of-23) from behind the arc and 16.7 percent (1-of-6) from the free throw line in the second half.
