LOGAN, Utah – Utah State men's basketball is garnering national attention after receiving a vote in the latest poll released by The Associated Press on Monday.
 
Utah State has started its season with a 4-0 record for the fifth time in the last 10 years, marking its best start since the 2019-20 team won its first seven games. The Aggies opened this season with three-straight double-digit victories at home with a 75-58 win against Utah Valley, 84-62 win against Bradley and 96-74 victory against Santa Clara. Utah State most recently recorded a thrilling 91-89 overtime victory at San Diego.
 
USU has had a different player lead the team in scoring in each of its four games this season as senior guard Sean Bairstow scored a season-high 19 points vs. Utah Valley, junior guard Steven Ashworth scored a career-high 28 points vs. Bradley, graduate forward Taylor Funk scored a season-high 22 points vs. Santa Clara, and graduate forward Dan Akin scored a season-high 21 points at San Diego. Furthermore, Ashworth and Akin are bench players for USU.
 
The Aggie bench has outscored opponents this season 152-74 as the reserves have accounted for 43.9 percent of the points in 2022-23. Utah State's bench ranks 16th in the nation, scoring 38.00 points per game.
 
The Aggies open a two-game homestand on Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m., when Utah State welcomes Oral Roberts (3-2) to the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Tickets can be purchased here.
