Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
LOGAN, Utah  Utah State men's basketball (7-1, 0-0 MW) extended its win streak to six with a 79-69 victory over UC Irvine (6-3, 0-0 Big West) inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Saturday night.
Four Aggies scored in double figures in the win, led by redshirt freshman guard Mason Falslev with a career-high-tying 19 points. Junior wing Great Osobor finished with 17 points, while both senior guard Ian Martinez and junior guard Josh Uduje each added 12. Graduate senior guard Darius Brown II led USU with nine assists, while graduate senior wing Max Agbonkpolo led the Aggies on the boards with seven rebounds.

The score stayed tight in the first half as neither team held a lead of larger than five points in the period. A 3-pointer by Agbonkpolo gave the Aggies a 42-41 advantage heading into the break.
The teams continued their back and forth into the second half until a 10-0 Aggie run, fueled by buckets from Uduje and Falslev, put USU on top 66-51 with 9:27 remaining. A two-handed Osobor slam later gave Utah State its largest lead of the night at 70-54 with 7:49 to go. UC Irvine trimmed the margin to seven, 74-67, but a couple Martinez layups and free throw from Uduje secured the 79-69 Aggie victory.
Three Anteaters scored in double figures, led by redshirt senior guard Justin Hohn with 21 points.

Overall, USU shot 50.8 percent (20-of-59) from the field, 33.3 percent (8-of-24) from behind the arc and 73.3 percent (11-of-15) at the free throw line. UCI shot 47.4 percent (27-of-57) from the floor, 38.5 percent (5-of-13) from deep and 71.4 percent (10-of-14) at the free throw line.
