Darius Brown II Named America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State graduate senior guard Darius Brown II has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Dec. 24. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
 
With its sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
 
The native of Pasadena, California, led Utah State with 19 points and eight assists in its 80-65 home win against East Tennessee State last week. Brown also added three rebounds in the win, while shooting 63.6 percent (7-of-11) from the field, 25.0 percent (1-of-4) from deep and 80.0 percent (4-of-5) at the free throw line. He is the first Aggie since at least the 2010-11 campaign to record six or more assists in 12 games during a season.
 
Utah State begins Mountain West play on the road at Air Force on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 2 p.m.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL – Junior guard Cheyenne Stubbs (Bradenton, Florida) led Utah State with 16 points, a season-high seven rebounds and a career-high five assists in its 51-49 loss to Western Colorado. Stubbs shot 6-of-21 (.286) from the floor, 3-of-9 (.333) from 3-point range and 1-of-2 (.500) from the charity stripe.
 
FOOTBALL – Junior cornerback Jaiden Francois (Florida City, Florida) had a career-high nine tackles, which included a career-best 1.0 sacks and a career-best 2.0 tackles for loss, while adding his first career forced fumble in Utah State's 45-22 loss to Georgia State in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
