Box Score PROVO, Utah – Utah State softball (15-23, 6-10 Mountain West) lost 10-5 to BYU (24-13) on the road on Tuesday night.
BYU jumped out to an early 8-0 lead after scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning and six in the bottom of the second.
USU did not back down, however, as the Aggies loaded the bases in the top of the third after freshman designated player

Makenzie Macfarlane each drew a walk. Sophomore second baseman
Giselle Gonzalez then stepped up to the plate to hit a grand slam and cut the deficit in half, 8-4. It marked her first home run of the season.
The Cougars extended their lead to 10-4 after scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Taryn Edds scored Utah State's last run of the game was a solo bomb to left field in the top of the sixth inning to trim the BYU advantage to five, but the Cougars held on for the 10-5 win.

Tess Bumiller. Bumiller gave up no runs and just one hit in her 2.0 innings of work.
