LOGAN, Utah – Utah State track & field and cross country had 10 athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District teams, it was announced by the organization on Wednesday.
 
For the Aggie women, Reagan Hoopes, Abby Jensen, Mattie Geddes, Sammi Lee and Olivia Smith all received the honor. On the men's side, Mark Crandall, Camren Todd, Ben Berlin, Marshall Rasmussen and Robbie Walker were honored.
 
Hoopes, who was also the top honoree at USU's Annual Whitesides Luncheon, graduated this spring with a combined GPA of 4.00 in computer science. The native of Waunakee, Wisconsin, competed in four meets across the indoor and outdoor seasons, recording a season-best finish of fourth place in the 3,000 meters at the USU-hosted Speed and Power Meet with a time of 10:45.59.
 
Jensen, a senior from Saratoga Springs, Utah, kept a GPA of 3.97 while majoring in data analytics. Jensen was named to the indoor all-Mountain West team after placing third as a member of the distance medley relay team with a time of 11:33.21 at the MW Indoor Championships, ranking as the second-best time in program history. Jensen also placed seventh in the MW for the indoor mile and fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Jensen qualified for the NCAA West Prelims in the steeplechase, where she placed 36th overall.
 
Geddes, a junior from Twin Falls, Idaho, recorded a GPA of 3.97 while majoring in interior architecture and design. Geddes broke the school record in the outdoor 800 meters, recording a time of 2:07.40 to place sixth at the MW Outdoor Championships. Geddes went on to finish 46th in the 800 meters at the West Prelims. Geddes was also named to the indoor all-MW team as a member of the distance medley relay team which recorded a time of 11:33.21 at the MW Indoor Championships. Geddes also placed fifth in the 800 meters at the MW Indoor Championships.
 
Lee, a junior from Pleasant View, Utah, registered a GPA of 4.00 while majoring in psychology. Lee competed in both the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the 5,000 meters at the MW Outdoor Championships, placing seventh in the steeplechase with a time of 10:28.12 and 18th in the 5,000 meters with a career-best time of 17:05.82.
 
Smith, a junior from Providence, Utah, earned a 4.00 GPA while majoring in marketing. Smith was named to the indoor all-Mountain West team after placing third as a member of the distance medley relay team with a time of 11:33.21 at the MW Indoor Championships, where she also placed fourth as a member of USU's 4x400-meter relay team with a time of 3:46.57 and 17th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.05. Smith also placed 10th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.21 at the MW Outdoor Championships.
 
Crandall, a senior from Shelley, Idaho, graduated this spring with a degree in kinesiology with a GPA of 3.94. Crandall moved to fifth all-time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase this season with a career-best time of 8:44.86. Crandall placed fifth in the steeplechase at the MW Outdoor Championships, qualifying to the West Prelims where he placed 32nd with a time of 8:52.57. Crandall also finished seventh in the mile at the MW Indoor Championships with a time of 4:09.05.
 
Todd, a senior from Kaysville, Utah, graduated this spring with a degree in civil engineering and a GPA of 3.95. Todd earned second-team all-MW honors in cross country in 2022, placing ninth at the MW Cross Country Championships. Todd also received the Elite 90 award for the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Championships, the second time in Todd's career receiving the award.
 
Berlin, a sophomore from Orem, Utah, registered a career-best time of 9:19.04 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing ninth at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic. Berlin recorded a season-best finish of second place in the steeplechase at the Utah Spring Classic with a time of 9:52.57.
 
Rasmussen, a sophomore from Meridian, Idaho, recorded a GPA of 3.94 while majoring in management. Rasmussen competed in the pole vault at both the MW Indoor and Outdoor Championships, also taking part in the triple jump at the Indoor Championships. Rasmussen won the triple jump at both the BYU Invitational II and the USU's hosted Speed and Power Meet, and set a career-best mark of 4.88 meters (16-0.25) in the pole vault to place seventh at the Robison Invitational.
 
Walker, a sophomore from Riverton, Utah, kept a 3.94 GPA while majoring in biology. Walker placed sixth in the pole vault at the MW Outdoor Championships with a height of 4.65 meters (15-3.00), and also competed in the pole vault and high jump at the Indoor Championships. Walker registered a season-best finish of fourth place in the pole vault at both the Mark Colligan Memorial Invite and the USU-hosted Speed and Power Meet.
