• Utah State has the chance to make history on Saturday, in search of its best start to a season in program history. USU has opened seasons 9-0 just three times (1917-18, 1938-39, 2022-23) but has never started 10-0.
• USU head coach Jerrod Calhoun is the first Aggie coach to win each of his first nine games at Utah State. The previous best start for a coach belonged to Ladell Anderson, who started the 1961-62 season with eight straight wins.
• The Aggies are one of just seven remaining unbeaten teams in college basketball, currently sitting at 9-0. Other undefeated squads include Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UC Irvine, Drake and Loyola Chicago.
• Fifth year guard
Ian Martinez currently leads the Mountain West in points (18.4), free throw percentage (90.6) and free throws made (58), while ranking third in 3-pointers made (2.44) and fourth in assist/turnover ratio (2.50). Sophomore guard
Mason Falslev ranks second in the league in field goal percentage (.558) and ninth in scoring with 16.3 points per contest.
• Falslev was named the Mountain West Player of the Week after averaging 14.0 points. 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.5 steals per contest last week.
• In Utah State's win over Wyoming on Dec. 4, Martinez scored the 1,000th point of his collegiate career. The former Utah Ute and Maryland Terrapin has scored over half of those points in an Aggie uniform.
• Calhoun also hit a major career milestone in the win over Wyoming, picking up his 250th victory as a head coach. In his 13th season, he is now 251-144.
• Utah State is receiving votes in both the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches poll. The team spent 17 weeks ranked last season, climbing as high as No. 16 in the AP Poll. In the most recent NET rankings, the Aggies rank No. 20.
• This will be just the third all-time meeting between Utah State and South Florida, the most recent being in 2019. USU is 2-0 in the series, both games being played at neutral sites.
• All-time against AAC opponents, Utah State is 24-10 (.706), including wins this year over Charlotte and North Texas.
