LAST COMPETITION
Utah State set two school records, won three titles, set a meet record and totaled 10 performances that rank in the top 10 all-time in school history across three meets in Southern California last weekend. The Aggies competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, California and the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, California.
After setting the USU record in the men's triple jump during the indoor season, junior Godwin Charles now holds the outdoor record after leaping 15.65 meters (51-4.25) to take third at the Beach Invitational. Junior Max Wehrli broke his previous school record in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase by taking 13th with a time of 8:36.30 in the Invite Section at the Bryan Clay Invitational. In the same section, sophomore Logan Garnica finished 26th with a time of 8:44.88, which ranks sixth all-time in school history. In the women's 100-meter hurdles at the Beach Invitational, senior Abbey Bryant climbed up the USU record book to second after recording a time of 13.37 to finish second in the event. Sophomore Krysthina Vlahovic placed 13th in the same event with a time of 13.85, which ties for 10th all-time in school history. Sophomore Logan Hammer improved his spot to third all-time in USU history in the men's pole vault by clearing 5.36 meters (17-7) twice this weekend. Hammer tied for third at the Pacific Coast Invitational and then tied for fifth at the Beach Invitational hitting the same mark. With a mark of 12.25 meters (40-2.25) in the women's triple jump to take 11th at the Beach Invite, senior Sidnee Naerebout improved her spot to fourth-best in Aggie history. In the women's 5,000 meters, sophomore Sarah Ellis now ranks sixth all-time in school history after she placed third with a time of 16:28.46 in heat 'A' of the Open Section in Azusa. Senior Bridger Altice finished third with a time of 13:56.16 in heat 'A' of the men's 5,000 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational. That performance ranks sixth all-time in USU history. After recording a time of 59.74 to place 10th in the 400-meter hurdles at the Pacific Coast Invitational, junior Maddie Edwards now sits at eighth all-time in school history. Freshman Landon Bott took 36th in the Invite Section of the men's 800 meters in Azusa. Bott now ranks eighth all-time in Aggie history. In group 'B'' of the men's decathlon at the Byran Clay Invitational, Javin Richards finished 10th with a total of 6,717 points. Richards' high watermark was winning the pole vault, clearing 4.75 meters (15-7), and placing fourth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.95. With his performance, Richards now sits 10th all-time in school history. On Friday, freshman Michael Moffat won the men's 10,000 meters at the Pacific Coast Invitational, setting a meet record with his time of 29:53.07. In that event, four Aggies placed in the top five. To open the weekend, senior Madison Strasner won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Pacific Coast Invitational with a time of 10:55.05. Also on Thursday in Long Beach, freshman John Simmons won the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:11.00.
