LOGAN, Utah – Utah State track & field secured five podium finishes, including one title, during a split meet weekend at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and the Ted Nelson Invitational in Bryan-College Station, Texas. Between the two meets, USU added seven Aggie performances to the top 10 all-time leaderboards.
Sophomore Ayodele Ojo Jr. claimed the 60-meter title in Albuquerque on Saturday, finishing just shy of his personal best in both preliminary and final races. He finished second in the preliminary at 6.60, before improving to 6.58 to secure a victory in the final. Both times exceed second place among Aggies all-time, falling just short of his 6.55 set last weekend. Ojo has claimed the sprint title in his last four meets and remains ranked top five nationally in the 60 meters.
Sophomore Mathew Hall placed third in in his first collegiate performance in the 200-meters in the open division, crossing the line at 21.19. Hall breaks into the fifth spot all-time among Aggies, setting his first individual time to break the top 10.
In her first running of the 200-meters this season, freshman Adia Ross crossed the line at 24.54, which is ranked 10th in program history. In the 60-meters, she finished only one hundredth away from her record-setting time from earlier this season.
Sophomore Heidi Harper ran a four second personal best 55.60 in the 400-meters, while graduate Annie Ivins set a personal best in the 800 meters with a time of 2.11.77, also outdoing her previous best by four seconds. Both Aggies finished top 10 in their respective events and made their way onto the Aggie all-time leaderboards with respective 10th place positions.
Junior Claire Petersen set a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking an 8.56 to improve upon her previous best for the second meet in a row, and strengthened her seventh-place rank among Aggies all-time.
In her first meet of the season, sophomore Sabrina Fairbanks's 3.82-meter (12-6.25) vault lofted her to seventh place in program history, just below her current teammate Lucy Jeppson who set her sixth-place height last season.
In Bryan-College Station, junior Landon Bott clocked a 1:48.99 to secure second in the 800-meters in his first instance running the event in 2026. The two-time Mountain West Champion ranks 10th nationally in the event.
Junior Sam Beckwith jumped a personal best of 7.45 meters (24-5.5) to achieve a third-place finish and fourth-straight podium in the long jump. Beckwith has set a personal best in his last three meets, his most recent jumping him from seventh to fifth all-time in Aggie history.
Next weekend, Utah State hosts the Roman Ruiz Speed and Power Invitational at the George Nelson Fieldhouse on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31. The team will once again split its squad to travel to the Washington Invitational in Seattle on the same days.
