LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's gymnastics program held its annual Blue-White Meet in front of an enthusiastic crowd Friday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. It was the first time this season the Aggies were able to show off their new routines in front of their fans.

"I'm just excited because even though we had our mistakes, it's really early in the year, but the girls had fun," fourth-year head coach Nadalie Walsh said. "They interacted well both with the crowd and with each other. They are really prepared and the last month of training is just going to make us better as gymnasts, but they already have it together as a team and that's really important."

The top three scores from each event counted toward a team's total. As a result, the White team edged the Blue team, 116.875-115.525.

The Aggies were divided into two squads. The Blue team consisted of seniors Katie Brown, Bailey McIntire and Keri Peel, junior Miranda Hone and freshmen MaKayla Bullitt, Natalia Jacobson, Kiera Miller and Logan Nugent.

The White team was comprised of senior Hayley Sanzotti, junior Melanie Oster, sophomores Emily Briones and Madison Ward, and freshmen Jazmyn Estrella, Elle Golison, Brittany Jeppesen and Jessi Rondeau.

The meet's scoring featured celebrity judges, which included HURD president Riley Douglas, USU athletics and campus recreation vice president Blake Lyman, assistant strength and conditioning coach Brandon Howard and his wife, Lauren, football player Kennedy Williams and women's track & field javelin thrower Mia Estes.

The celebrity judges scored the gymnasts by holding up large emoji signs. However, the coaching staff turned in official scores after each routine.

Bullitt captured the all-around crown with a 38.650, while Ward finished in second with a 38.300.

Ward, along with Gollison, tied for first on vault with a 9.775. The native of Rexburg, Idaho, also took first on floor with a 9.825. Estrella captured first on bars with a 9.875, while Sanzotti took the beam title with a 9.825.

Utah State head volleyball coach Grayson DuBose and former gymnast Sarah Landes emceed the event.

The Aggies officially open the 2017 campaign on Friday, Jan. 6, when they take on Arizona at 7 p.m. in Tucson, Ariz. The Wildcats lead the all-time series with Utah State 23-11, including a 4-1 mark at home. These two teams have not competed against each other since the 2012 season.

Utah State's home opener is set for Friday, Jan. 13, against Bowling Green and North Carolina State at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The tri-meet is slated to start at 7 p.m.
