LOGAN, Utah — Utah State cross country athletes collected all four Mountain West weekly honors, it was announced by the league on Tuesday. Freshman Joshua Armstrong won Men's Athlete of the Week and Men's Freshman of the Week, senior Sammi Lee won Women's Athlete of the Week and freshman Ava Trimble won Women's Freshman of the Week.

Armstrong finished in third place with a time of 21:29.56 in the men's 7K race at the USU-hosted Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invitational on Saturday, the best time of any collegiate participant. In his third-ever collegiate race, the native of La Verkin, Utah, led the Aggies to a first-place team finish.

Lee took second place overall in the women's 5K with a time of 18:31.47, also beating all other collegiate runners in the field. The Pleasant View, Utah, native paced a strong collection of Aggie runners that earned the top-seven collegiate finishes en route to a dominant first-place team victory. This second-place finish, her career-best, comes a year after finishing in third place at the 2023 Steve T. Reeder Memorial Invitational.

Trimble finished in fourth place in the women's 5K, clocking in at 18:49.69. The native of Orem, Utah, was the third finisher for the Aggies in her third-ever collegiate race, helping the team to its third first-place finish in five races this season.

This is the first MW weekly honor for each of these three Aggies. Armstrong is the fifth-consecutive Aggie to earn Freshman of the Week honors, joining freshmen Jedidiah Megargel, Luke Stockett, Michael Moffat, and Joshua McKee. With this award, Utah State is the first cross country program in Mountain West history to claim a given individual honor five-consecutive times, and the first Mountain West program in any sport to have five different athletes claim the same honor in consecutive weeks. USU is also the first cross country program to sweep all four weekly honors since the Mountain West began awarding Freshman of the Week awards in 2021.

Utah State's cross country teams will be back in action in Madison, Wisconsin, on Saturday, Oct. 19, when the Aggies compete in the 2024 Wisconsin Pre-Nationals starting at 9 a.m. (MT).
