BOZEMAN, Mont. — Utah State track & field claimed three individual titles, 11 podium finishes and posted five performances ranking in the top 10 all-time at the Montana State-hosted Carignan Classic in Bozeman, Montana, on Friday.
Freshman
Emmanuella Njenje set her second- and third-straight personal bests in the women's 60 meters. Her prelim time of 7.60 earned her the final qualifying spot in the event final, where she finished third with a time of 7.53. Njenje moved from seventh to third all-time in USU history with her performance. Freshman
Adia Ross, who holds the USU record in the event, clocked in at 7.56 to place fourth.
Sophomore
Mathew Hall and freshman
David Konan claimed the top-two spots in the men's 200 meters. Hall moved from fifth to fourth in Utah State history with his winning time of 20.95, which currently ranks second among all MW athletes. Konan crossed the line in a personal-best 21.69.
In the women's 60-meter hurdles, senior
Krysthina Vlahovic and junior
Claire Petersen once again earned podium finishes. Vlahovic, who currently leads the Mountain West in the event, finished in second place with a time of 8.45. Petersen ran a personal best for the sixth week in a row to finish third with a time of 8.48, besting her own fourth-best performance in USU history.
Konan also won his first career 60-meter title, crossing the line in 6.72 to beat Montana's Karsen Beitz by three thousandths of a second. His performance topped his previous personal best by 0.01 seconds and moved him from seventh to sixth in school history.
Junior
Sam Beckwith won his third long jump title of the indoor season with a clearance of 7.24 meters (23-9).
Sophomore
Heidi Harper and graduate
Annie Ivins took second and third in the women's 400 meters, with Harper finishing in 55.94 and Ivins clocking in with a personal-best 56.49.
Senior
Milly Garren placed second in the women's weight throw with a season-best mark of 17.88 meters (58-8). Junior
Joseph Turner also posted a season-best in the men's competition, throwing 17.52 meters (57-5.75) to finish fifth.
Freshman
Sally Roos finished third in the women's mile, clocking in with a personal-best time of 5:03.28.
Freshman
Karina Cooper cleared a meet-best 3.98 meters (13-0.75) in the women's pole vault, ultimately placing fourth in the competition. Sophomore
Sabrina Fairbanks set a top-10 mark of her own in a fifth-place effort, clearing 3.83 meters (12-6.75) to boost her seventh-ranked personal best by a centimeter.
Utah State will split its squad four ways for the final weekend of the regular season on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14. Aggie athletes will compete at the Arkansas-hosted Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the New Mexico-hosted Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the Idaho State-hosted Mountain State Games in Pocatello, Idaho, and the Washington-hosted Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington.
