RUNNING IT BACK
Utah State returns nine all-MW performers from the 2025 outdoor season as the Aggie men placed third at the MW Outdoor Championships with 114.5 points and the women finished ninth with 38 points.
Senior
Logan Hammer his third-straight conference title in the men's pole vault with a meet-record clearance of 5.65 meters (18-6.5). Junior
Landon Bott won the men's 800 meters with a time of 1:49.68, adding the outdoor gold to his indoor gold from the 2025 indoor championships. Seniors
Marshall Rasmussen and
Javin Richards completed the Aggie sweep of the pole vault podium with respective marks of 5.11 meters (16-9.25) and 4.96 meters (16-3.25). In the throws group, junior
Walker Deede won his second-straight MW silver medal in the javelin with a throw of 68.72 meters (225-5) and junior
Joseph Turner uncorked a throw of 56.37 meters (184-11) to win bronze in the discus. Two then-freshmen added to the men's medal count with
Ayodele Ojo, Jr. winning silver in the 100 meters in 10.32 and
Taite Priestley winning bronze in the high jump with a leap of 2.09 meters (6-10.25). On the women's side, junior
Shelby Jensen won silver in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:48.44.
BEST IN THE WEST
Heading into the week's meet, Utah State has 24 individuals and relay teams (16 men, eight women) that are in qualifying position for the NCAA West First Rounds, held in Fayetteville, Arkansas, from May 27-30. The top-12 finishers in each event at each of the NCAA West and East First Rounds, as well as the top-24 heptathletes and decathletes nationally, will qualify for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships, held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, from June 10-13.
In 2025, Utah State sent 21 student-athletes to the NCAA West First Rounds, its most since 2018, across 18 individual and relay team entries. Hammer and Jensen each advanced to the national championships, where Jensen went on to earn First-Team All-American honors in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase and Hammer claimed Second-Team All-American honors in the men's pole vault.

Utah State athletes broke two school records at the Bryan Clay Invitational from April 16-18. Garnica broke his own school record in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing with a time of 8:29.92 that topped his previous record by four seconds. Senior
Sarah Ellis set the women's 5,000-meter record, which she held for two weeks last season, with a time of 15:50.07, breaking
Emma Thornley's record by 11.37 seconds. Clark broke the USU record in the women's javelin on home soil at the Aggie Invitational, launching a throw of 53.60 meters (175-10) to break Mia Estes's 2018 standard of 51.38 meters (168-7). USU has also made its mark on the MW record book in 2026. Bott broke the conference record in the men's 800 meters with his time of 1:45.83, besting the previous record of 1:46.01 set by Colorado State's Bryan Berryhill in 2001. Deede posted the second-best javelin throw in conference history of 74.90 meters (245-9), ranking only behind two-time Utah State All-American Sindri Gudmundsson. Garnica's steeplechase record also ranks fourth in MW history and Ojo's top 100-meter time of 10.14 is tied for fifth in conference history.
AWARDS SEASON
Freshman
Henry Tait earned MW Men's Freshman of the Week honors on March 24, his first career MW weekly award and the Aggies' first accolades of the outdoor campaign. Freshman
Karina Cooper won the women's freshman honors on March 31, the second such award of her career. Following the USU-hosted Aggie Invitational, Deede, Hall and freshman
Blake Johns swept the men's weekly accolades on April 28, respectively claiming the field, track and freshman awards. Utah State student-athletes claimed a total of 12 MW weekly awards in the 2025-26 indoor season, the most in program history and the second-straight indoor season with at least 10 awards earned.
INDOOR SEASON BY THE NUMBERS
– Utah State track and field athletes posted
64 performances that ranked in the top 10 in school history during the indoor track and field season. Petersen led the women's team with six top-10 marks in the 60-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay, while six Aggie men co-led their squad with three top-10 performances each. The women's team posted 34 top-10 performances, paced by 18 top-10 times from the sprint group. The men's team was close behind with 30 top-10 performances, led by the distance squad's tally of 12 top-10 times.

eight school records during the 2026 indoor campaign. Utah State opened the 2025-26 indoor season with a record-setting performance at the BYU December Invitational from Dec. 10-11, as Hammer, Richards and freshman
Adia Ross broke school records in the men's pole vault (5.63 meters (18-5.5), men's heptathlon (5,536 points) and women's 60 meters (7.48), respectively. Ojo became the fourth Aggie to set a school record in 2025-26 when he ran the 60 meters in 6.55 at the Snake River Open on Jan. 16, topping both the Utah State record of 6.61, set in 2014, and the MW record of 6.60, set in 2015. Bott broke the men's 800-meter school record in front of the Aggie faithful at the Roman Ruiz Speed and Power Invitational on Jan. 30, crossing the line in 1:47.79. Three records fell on the final weekend of the regular season, as Jensen broke the program record in the women's 3,000 meters with a time of 9:21.31 and Holdsworth ran USU's first-ever four-minute mile of 3:59.90 at the Husky Classic while Bott broke his own 800-meter record by finishing in 1:47.55 at the Tyson Invitational. At the MW indoor championships, sophomore
Shay Jones tied the USU record in the women's 400 meters of 53.05.

Three USU men qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships, tying the most entries in Utah State history and outpacing all but one Mountain West institution. Bott (800 meters), Hammer (pole vault) and Ojo (60 meters) all earned Second-Team All-American honors.
LAST MEET
Utah State claimed 10 titles and 22 podium finishes while posting seven performances, including a school record in the women's 4x400-meter relay, that rank in the top-10 in school history at the BYU Robison Invitational, the Payton Jordan Invitational and the Desert Heat Classic.
