LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's gymnastics program opened its 2016 campaign with a dominating 194.375-184.225 victory against Centenary College on Friday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
"I wanted the team to come in and do what they practice, and I feel good about it," said third-year head coach Nadalie Walsh. "They had some little mistakes here and there, but for the most part, we had really good composure."
The Aggies (1-0, 0-0 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference), who led after every rotation, won their third consecutive season opener for the first time since the 1997-99 campaigns. Furthermore, Utah State's team score of 194.375 was its highest for a season opener since recording a 194.150 in 2004.

"Starting the season with a win is great for us," Martinez said. "We're continuing to grow and we just expect to go up from here. Starting out at a 194 is great for us and it's a good start. We're all excited for this year and we're just ready to go out and have fun."
Melanie Oster captured the beam title for the Aggies. Making her first career appearance on the event, the sophomore from Kenosha, Wis., posted a 9.825.
