LOGAN, Utah – Utah State track and field will open its 2023-24 indoor season at the BYU Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8-9.

The meet will start with the men's discus on Friday morning and conclude with the women's high jump on Saturday afternoon.

At last year's BYU Invite, the Aggies won three titles and 18 top-five finishes.

Utah State enters this season returning eight all-Mountain West performers from last year as the Aggie men placed fifth at the MW Indoor Championships with 64 points and the women finished 10th with 30 points.

The Aggies bring back a women's quartet that set the second-fastest distance medley relay time in school history at 11:33.21 at the MW Indoor Championships as seniors Abby Jensen, Mattie Geddes and Hannah Davidson, and junior Olivia Smith earned all-MW honors for their performance. The men's DMR crew also earned all-conference honorees for their 9:44.03 time, ranking third all-time in school history, as senior Christopher Kauffman and junior Brennan Benson return from that group. Kauffman and Benson were additionally recognized as second-team all-conference honorees in the 800 meters (1:51.87) and mile (4:06.51), respectively, as both placed third in their event. Sophomore Carter Bell is the lone returner from the 4x400-meter relay team that placed third with a time of 3:15.16. Junior Kelton Chenworth was named first-team all-conference for his second-place finish in the high jump with a mark of 2.12-meters, which is tied for ninth all-time in school history.

Sophomores Krysthina Vlahovic, Milly Garren and Logan Hammer all return after earning Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors in 2023.

Utah State also welcomes in transfers Godwin Charles, a junior competing in jumps from Central Arizona College, and Madison Tareski, a junior from Eastern Washington, who placed second in javelin in the 2022 Big Sky Outdoor Championships.

Utah State has also added 37 freshmen to this year's squad.
