AZUSA, Calif. — Junior
Logan Hammer broke his own school record in the men's pole vault as Utah State track & field claimed two individual titles, four podium finishes and five top-10 performances in school history at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, and the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, California, on Thursday.
Hammer's record-setting jump was the culmination of his first-place finish at the Pacific Coast Invitational. Having already claimed the top spot in the competition over Akron's Hunter Garretson, the two-time All-American chose to attack a height of 5.68 meters (18-7.5) and cleared it on his second attempt. His mark bested his previous record of 5.62 meters (18-5.25), which he set at last year's Mountain West Outdoor Championships. In addition to setting the USU record, Hammer reset his own MW record and posted the top mark in the NCAA this season and the seventh highest of any American in 2025.
Freshman
Abbie Scott added to the Aggies' banner day in the pole vault, clearing 3.94 meters (12-11) to finish ninth in the women's competition in Long Beach. Her efforts moved her into fifth in Aggie history in the event. The Rigby, Idaho, product also ranks second in USU history in the indoor pole vault.
Freshman
Ayodele Ojo placed sixth in the men's 100 meters, clocking in at 10.42. Ojo's time ranks eighth in school history, making him the first Aggie to break into Utah State's top 10 in the event since Parker Bluth in 2016.
Junior
Alison Richter won the women's 800 meters at the Pacific Coast Invitational, clocking in with a time of 2:13.05 that beat the second-place runner by over three seconds.
Freshman
Taite Priestley won the second flight of the high jump competition and finished second overall with his jump of 2.07 meters (6-9.5). The Preston, Idaho, native passed on the meet-best height of 2.10 meters (6-10.75) to instead attempt a personal best of 2.14 meters (7-0.25) but was unsuccessful.
About 40 miles inland, sophomore
Landon Bott finished in 1:47.11 to place second in the invite section of the 800 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational. In his first 800-meter race since winning the Mountain West indoor title in March, he shaved 1.29 seconds off his previous personal best and moved from fourth to third in USU history.
Junior
LJ Floyd set a personal best time of 13:59.34 in the third heat of the 5,000-meter Open A competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational. His mark trimmed 0.62 seconds off his previous best, which ranks eighth in Aggie history.
Utah State will continue its stay in California as they take part in the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa on Friday, April 18, and the Beach Invitational in Long Beach from Friday-Saturday, April 18-19.
