LOGAN, Utah — Graduate
Logan Garnica broke his own Utah State record in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase as the Aggie track & field team claimed four titles and six podium finishes while posting five additional performances that rank in the top-10 in school history at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, and the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, California, on Thursday.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, Garnica closed strong in the top heat of the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing the line in 8:29.92 to reset the USU record in the event. The All-Mountain West honoree in cross country started near the back of the pack in the first heat of the invite section but closed with a final lap of 1:05.69 to finish eighth in the field and break his own school record by four seconds. Garnica leads the MW, running the fourth-fastest time in conference history, and ranks second in the NCAA West Region and eighth in the nation so far in 2026.
Junior
Garrett Woodhouse followed up his teammate's record-setting performance by setting a personal best in the second heat of the invite section, clocking in at 8:40.33 to finish third in his heat and 15th overall. Woodhouse moved from seventh to third in Utah State history in the event, beating his previous personal best by over six seconds. The Oakton, Virginia, native now ranks third in the conference and 13th in the region.
In Long Beach, the men's 4x100-meter relay team of senior
Javin Richards, sophomore
Mathew Hall, freshman
David Konan and sophomore
