LOGAN, Utah - Utah State allowed touchdowns on Boise State's first two drives of the game and could not dig out of the early hole as the Aggies lost 41-14 in front of 19,012 fans Saturday night on Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Jordan Love completed 17-of-32 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown, while senior running back LaJuan Hunt rushed for 31 yards and another score for Utah State (4-5, 2-3 Mountain West).

Boise State (6-2, 4-0) held the Aggies to just 279 yards of total offense - 186 through the air and 93 on the ground.

Redshirt sophomore tight end Dax Raymond led Utah State with five receptions for 30 yards. Junior wide receiver Ron'quavion Tarver added three catches for 77 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown pass from Love that pulled the Aggies to within 14-7 with less than a minute left in the first quarter.

Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien completed 19-of-27 passes for 260 yards and three touchdowns. His backup, Montell Cozart, was 5-of-7 for 110 yards and two more scores for the Broncos, who finished with 533 total yards.

Redshirt freshman safety Baron Gajkowski recorded a game- and career-high 11 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss. Junior linebacker Suli Tamaivena finished in double-digit tackles for the fifth straight game as he had 10 stops, including 0.5 tackles for loss and one of the Aggies' three quarterback hurries on the night.

The Broncos led 28-7 at halftime and scored a touchdown on their first series of the third quarter to open up a 28-point cushion.

Utah State answered back, though, as Hunt scored on a 1-yard touchdown run to make it 35-14 with 6:29 remaining in the third.

After the defense forced Boise State to go three-and-out on the ensuing possession, Love drove the Aggies to the Broncos' 14-yard line. However, that's as close as Utah State would get to the end zone as BSU forced the Aggies to turn the ball over on downs.

Freshman running back Tre Miller led Utah State with 40 yards rushing on seven carries, while his Boise State counterpart, Alex Mattison, carried the ball 19 times for 110 yards.

Utah State heads back out on the road next weekend to take on New Mexico on Saturday, Nov. 4. The game, which is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m., will be televised live on AT&T SportsNet.
