LOGAN, Utah — Utah State track & field athletes won six individual titles, earned 15 podium finishes and posted five top-10 performances in school history at the Bryan Clay Multis in Azusa, California, from Thursday-Friday, the Weber State Spring Classic in Ogden, Utah, on Friday and the Utah Spring Classic in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday.
In Azusa, junior
Javin Richards and graduate
Caden Dupee each posted personal-best overall decathlon scores that rank in USU's all-time top-10 in the event. Competing alongside each other in Group B, Richards finished fifth in the group with 7,101 points while Dupee placed 10th with 6,789 points. The native of Perry, Ohio, surged from 10th to fourth in Aggie history on the strength of his pole vault mark of 5.10 meters (16-8.75) that topped the entire field at the Bryan Clay Multis. Dupee's score, which ranks 10th all-time, was bolstered by personal bests in the shot put and pole vault.
Junior
Sophie Chandler started her heptathlon campaign strong by earning 5,032 points in Group B of the competition at the Bryan Clay Multis. Her overall score, which ranked sixth in her group, moved her into ninth in Utah State history in the heptathlon. The Snow Canyon HS product set four personal bests over the course of the seven events, including a javelin throw of 41.62 meters (136-6) that was the best in her cohort and third-best of the entire meet.
Utah State's jumpers had a field day on Friday in Ogden. USU claimed the top two places in the men's long jump as sophomore
Samuel Beckwith won the competition with a mark of 7.37 meters (24-2.25) and senior
Joshua Hartvigsen finished right behind him with his jump of 7.06 meters (23-2). Freshman
Taite Priestley claimed the men's high jump title with a leap of 2.12 meters (6-11.5). Sophomore
Elle Jacobson added a podium finish for the women, finishing runner-up in the women's long jump competition with her mark of 5.68 meters (18-7.5). Both Beckwith and Priestley moved into ties for 10th all-time in their respective events.
Freshman
Alayna Wardle won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in her first collegiate race in the event, beating out sophomore teammate
Brooklyn Hill by less than a second to secure the top spot.
Senior
Wyatt Evans claimed the runner-up spot in the men's mile, running a personal-best time of 4:07.29 that is also the fastest mile run by an Aggie in the 2025 outdoor season.
In his first individual race since February 1, freshman
Daniel Chase placed second in the 100 meters with a time of 10.61, just 0.01 seconds behind BYU's Dallin Draper for first place.
Freshman
Mashaylee Jones finished third in the women's 400 meters, finishing the one-lap race in 54.84.
On Saturday in Salt Lake City, USU saw strong performances from its 5,000-meter runners. On the men's side, sophomore
Mitchell Athay and freshman
Britton Austin went one-two with times of 15:33.71 and 15:36.33, respectively. Freshman
Meredith Sanford represented the Aggies well in the women's competition, winning her race in 18:18.94.
Junior
Milly Garren claimed first place in the women's shot put, uncorking a throw of 14.52 meters (47-7.75) that bested the runner-up, former Utah State thrower and Milly's older sister Maia Garren, by 0.35 meters.
Sophomore
Kace Jones placed second in the men's javelin competition, throwing a personal-best 60.09 meters (197-01).
Sophomore
Carson Coleman ran his way to third place in the men's 800 meters, clocking in with a time of 1:52.74.
